Yep. Jealousy is no way to go through life. But that PP can’t help themselves. Putting Wootton down makes them feel so superior. |
You are the one creating drama. Wootton has some serious issues. You are not making Wootton parents look good. No wonder Gaithersburg families don’t want to share a school with you. |
Gaithersburg families are foaming at the mouth with this opportunity-are you joking? Their property values are going to soar. Going from QO and GHS to “Wootton” is a huge deal from the other side. Wootton has serious issues same as other schools. Except it’s also a top school. |
Their property values are already high. They don't need or want Wootton. You don't make parents of Wootton look good with your comments. |
I would never send my kid to Wootton if you looked at everything that happened the past 10 years. |
you just keep posting the same comment over and over. |
You keep acting like we all envy and are jealous of families in Wootton. You fail to look at the serious issues that have happened here and the failing building. Not to mention the parents representing Wootton right now. |
All the save Wootton people showed tonight is that they’d rather keep their kids in a run down gross building for 5 more years than go 3 miles to crown. For the sake of their property values and to keep their community isolated from anyone in gburg. What an embarrassment. Magruder watch your backs, you are being used. |
It makes no sense they aren't concerned about their kids health. |
Well, MCPS plans to use Wootton as a holding school very soon, so why can’t it fix Wootton’s immediate problems without closing it? Oh yeah, that’s right, Taylor doesn’t want his shiny new school used by all those GHS and QO kids, with the excess used as a holding school. He really wants to cover up his and MCPS’ incompetence. Heads need to roll for that and MCPS needs to find another way to fix its mistakes without closing a school that has been where it is for 56 years. Btw, it’s not 3 miles to Crown. More like 5 miles. You also seem to want school buses and 16 year old drivers on 270 during rush hour. Why is that? |
| It’s literally 3 miles |
This is misinformation. MCPS has shared the cost of renovating Wootton to make it a holding school. They haven’t shared a timeline, and it isn’t on the current CIP. Taylor shared the $100 million price tag for the holding school to make a point about the cost savings, not to make a budget request. They don’t have the additional $100-150 million to make Wootton into a permanent school, but crucially they ALSO don’t have the first $100 million they would need to make it safe enough for kids to use temporarily. |
Why are so invested in a situation that doesn’t have any effect on you at all? By your comments you have made it clear that you are not going to Wootton so seriously, why do you care? |
Montgomery County routinely funds hundreds of millions in school capital projects annually. Targeted remediation (in reality, more like $30–80M range depending on scope) is small compared to: (i) full high-school rebuilds (~$200M–$300M) and (ii) multiple simultaneous modernization projects. This means the issue is priority, not capacity. The choice is not between moving Wootton or doing nothing. The real choice is between fixing the building responsibly or permanently dismantling a functioning school community because of deferred maintenance and a temporary dip in enrollment. |
