We all saw the video of the FCC chairman threatening ABC’s broadcast license. Do you not grasp that in the American system of government the various executive agencies and their appointed heads fall under the direct command of the executive? No, of course you do. You’re just playing games rather than acknowledging- as many conservatives have in response to this - that the current occupant of the WH is an existential threat to the most bedrock of our civil rights, the one which enshrines all the rest.

His ratings were in the basement. Maybe Disney was tired of lighting their cash on fire. Can’t wait for the next Snow White movie.

FCC Chair Carr reasserts his war on First Amendment and ignoring the Charlie Kirk’s pleas for free speech.

He claims to be Deep State, going rogue and disregarding the President!

Yup, they are backtracking furiously. The wall to wall headlines about Trump censoring free speech are not playing well. But the funniest part is Trump himself doesn’t seem to get it yet. He’s still out there taking credit for getting Kimmel fired and now he’s trying to get Fallon fired too. He’s got such a thin skin he just can’t stand any criticism at all.

Who is backtracking? FCC Chair Carr announced he is expanding his scope to shut down more criticism of Trump.

Thin skinned and too stupid to realize that he's admitting to censorship. What happened to his campaign promise: "Never again will the immense power of the state be weaponized to persecute political opponents."

Perfect for Kimmel’s defense when he sues.

Unless ABC doesn’t pay his contract salary, he has no standing to sue. ABC preemptively caved to pressure instead of fighting, so they can’t sue either.

NEWS Disney’s CEO Bob Iger and co-chair Dana Walden made the decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel’s show after he planned to double down and go on camera to defend his lie that MAGA voters killed Charlie Kirk rather than "kowtow” to the outrage, Hollywood Reporter reports. They yanked him because they “thought that would fan the flames” as Nexstar and Sinclair affiliates dropped him.

“The advertiser calls began to roll in and then the big affiliate conglomerates, Nexstar and Sinclair, threatened to preempt the show.” This is market reaction, and not tied to FCC chair Brendan Carr’s actions.

Kimmel even planned to double down and not apologize after “Disney employees saw their emails doxxed..some even received death threats.” When “66 of the roughly 200 affiliate stations had said they would” drop him, that’s when Iger and Walden pulled the plug. @jimmykimmel @ABC @Disney #JimmyKimmel @THR @charliekirk11 @TPUSA @FCC @x #CharlieKirk #Disney #BreakingNews

If Kimmel doesn’t want to be the host of an entertainment and comedy talk show, he doesn’t have to be. There is plenty of room for him in the Podcast and Youtube world of injectable pablum.

Late night comedy shows worked in an era where everyone watched TV, the country was relatively united - no one on either side took much offense about political jokes.

By about 2010 (for some much earlier) the younger right had totally abandoned TV because it was leftwing biased, and sought its humor elsewhere. To maintain its audience, late night TV had to transition to only making fun of the right.

Over the next decade the left lost its sense of humor entirely - and so shows went from seeking audience laughs to seeking audience approval - the shows became overtly political, left wing - and way too serious and self-important. The hosts evolved with their dwindling, and ever more fanatical, audiences.

And now it’s just dying because the genre is played out - and the audience itself is old and irrelevant.

Good.

I assume that he’s working on a lawsuit now.

The WSJ Editorial Board disagrees with you.

Still insane that it has the approval that it does. This country is in the sh@tter.

Don't watch late night, but good for him. We need more people like him to stand up. They wanted him to personally apologize to to Erika Kirk, and give her and Turning Point cash, according to 1440. That is beyond the pale. When Trump starts issuing written apologies, then I might change my mind.

Bravo Kimmel!

25-30% of the country supported Nixon and didn't want him to resign. It's always been this way. A solid 25-30% of Americans have always wanted authoritarian-like government.
