You realize that not all of the teachers live in Fairfax County, correct?

That’s not what nbc4 just said. There could be another 3 inches when it picks back up later this afternoon. Plus, it’s going to be under 20° all night long which means ice.

You’re worried about your kids being in school, sounds like you need to go back to school and learn some basics of science.

Why, other than punitive reasons to make you feel better about your sad life?

Most professionals cannot completely check out like that for weeks on end.

My spouse is one of you professionals- as long as their Teams isn’t red for more than a couple hours at a time they can stay checked out in perpetuity.

Anyway, since teaching is so easy I’ll be sure to welcome you personally when you sign up for next year. I’m sure with your depth of expertise principals will clamor over you.

My husband didn’t take any vacation days between Christmas Eve and New Year’s. He checked his email in the morning, at lunch, and in the evening. I think he participated on two teams meetings and two phone calls. We binge watched three shows over the break.

There are plenty of employees in the real world checking out.

Your husband sounds rotten

Ok, whatever. It was great having him home with us during the week.

I would love to agree with you but no way. Not with 8+ inches of snow.

Best case scenario is a two hour delay on Wednesday.

But parts of Reston are only getting 6" of snow! So they should definitely go to school tomorrow!

Fairfax one! We already have 7 inches on Chantilly/centreville/south riding border-sorry.

Interesting. Jay’s Wintry Mix says no one in Loudoun (which borders you) got more than 5” so far.

Wait, some guy with a Facebook page says something different from actual meteorologists with with massive resources behind them? Well, I’m sold.

They suck and are the worst when your kids are little. But the years go quick and you will love them when your kids hit middle and HS and you don’t need daycare anymore and they can get themselves to the bus stop. You will wish every day was a delay when middle school hits.

+1, snow days are tough when your kids are little, but they happen practically every winter. Its just a few more years.

He’s well know and respected. And CWG agrees. Can tell you don’t actually follow weather.

He’s got the same resources that the meteorologists do, it’s all computerized weather programs anyways.

Not a chance in hell for a normal start on Wednesday, sorry:

Historically, would this amount of snow typically mean a two day closure? Or can we expect only a 2-hour delay tomorrow? Trying to plan ahead.

2 day closure for sure. Have any of you been out? I did a 1.5 mile walk in my neighborhood. Sidewalks have 6+ inches on them and nothing is going to melt with a high of 27. It doesn’t matter if you think the layer band will be negligible, this amount of snow isn’t going to be cleared enough for school tomorrow.

I highly doubt it, mainly because if even a couple of inches are predicted for later today they won’t have the plow trucks off the main roads until after that falls and is cleared.

For some reason my culdesac that usually never get plowed was plowed at 7:30am today.

Similar here. We have 8 kids on the culdesac and we were hoping to keep it closed off and let them sled on it. Why are they being efficient today of all days, dangit!
