Their defense wasn't thier strength, and who knows what their goalie could do, the ball hardley made it on that side. Their offense was where it was at for the Rams.

You obviously haven’t watched many Riverside games. They did not have a face-off advantage in a lot of games. Madison, Stab, Atlee, even the independence games. That defense is legit and well coached every year.

If Riverside can replace their goalie they will be the heavy favorites in that district on the girls side.

Losing some good Seniors but goalie is coming back and they have a few rising Juniors that are good. Key is whether the coach returns now that her daughter is graduating.

Coach isn’t going anywhere. She’s one of the best in area.

1. Riverside (likely to win 5A Title)
2. Freedom (beat Riverside, Briar, Champe, Dominion)
3. Indy (clearly got better as the season progressed)
4. Briar Woods
5. Loudoun County
6. Dominion
7. Champe
8. Woodgrove
9. Broad Run
10. Stone Bridge

Now that the season is over, this looks accurate to me.

Riverside is down... they lost too many players... Its Indy's year...

Indy is going to destroy Riverside. They are better in every facet of the game. Coaching included.

Indy lost the same amount of games this year than Riverside has in the last 4 years combined.

Should be another fun year to watch next year on the 5A Boys side. Indy returning most if not everyone, Briar’s full offense returns including those lost to injury as well as the majority of their defense, and Riverside returns their stingy D with a younger yet talented group on offense.

Hopefully Indy and BW follow suit and test themselves early with more 6As and Privates next year.

I think they should take on PVI as they will likely be down the next two years.

It’s exhausting to think about. Let’s take a break with the Indy and Briar predictions. At least wait until February.

my guess is that PVI will take a pass on that one to protect its players from getting slashed in the back after the game, or blind sided 30 yards from the ball.

With the season being over I can’t see Independence beating Riverside next year or ever due to coaching alone unless that changes. When I say coaching I’m referring to the head coach as the others seem to be fairly competent.

We have history with the head coach and the slasher from early dulles south days. Our son was on the team and it was a horrible experience. We could not get away from them fast enough. The team was bad because the coach always put his kid before the team. The slasher exhibited the same tendencies of poor sportsmanship and behavior enabled by the father that you see now with Independence. He never came off the field regardless of his behavior and was not held accountable. We are so grateful that we removed our child from that toxic environment. I don’t blame the son because from what we saw it was all on the father and the daddy ball atmosphere that still goes on.

What really is a head scratcher to me is why the Independence AD would hire this coach. Our coach and AD filed complaints in the ‘23 season about the slasher and dirty play when the now Independence head coach was the offensive coach. It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see that it would get worse (case in point Broad Run incident.) Fast forward to end of the ‘24 season and it appears daddy is rewarding the slasher with All Region Accolades for poor sportsmanship.
We know some parents on Independence from travel and I feel bad for them and their boys by no choice of their own are now deep into a toxic team with a poor head coach.

Starting this thread back up, anyone have a ‘players to watch’ write up like someone did for the Class 6 teams?

Truthfully the slasher is a pretty solid player.
