Insurrection Hearings 6/28 and beyond

It’s pretty desperate and flailing. But my favorite so far is the poster who said that maybe trump wanted to go to the Capitol to calm everyone down.

Let's note here that the media is faithfully reporting the hearings, and that no reputable journalist is making waves about witness testimony and accuracy thereof.

As usual, Trumpers on this thread are grasping at straws and trying to create a controversy out of thin air.

Are you insinuating that Twitter is not real life?

LIZ CHENEY:

Now let's look at just one example of what some senior advisers to the president were urging. Ms. Hutchinson, could you look at the exhibit that we're showing on the screen now? Have you seen this note before?

CASSIDY HUTCHINSON:

That's a note that I wrote at the direction of the chief of staff on January 6th, likely around 3:00.

LIZ CHENEY:

And it's written on a chief of staff note card, but that's your handwriting, Ms. Hutchinson?

CASSIDY HUTCHINSON:

That's my handwriting.

LIZ CHENEY:

And why did you write this note?

CASSIDY HUTCHINSON:

The chief of staff was in a meeting with Eric Hirschman and potentially Mr. Philbin, and they had rushed out of the office fairly quickly. Mark had handed me the note card with one of his pens, and sort of dictating a statement for the president to potentially put out.

LIZ CHENEY:

And -- no, I'm sorry. Go ahead.

CASSIDY HUTCHINSON:

That's Ok. There are two phrases on there, one illegal and then one without proper authority. The illegal phrase was the one that Mr. Meadows had dictated to me. Mr. Herschmann had chimed in and said also put without legal authority. There should have been a slash between the two phrases. It was an -- an or if the president had opted to put one of those statements out.

Evidently he didn't. Later that afternoon, Mark came back from the Oval Dining Room and put the palm card on my desk with illegally crossed out, but said we didn't need to take further action on that statement.

LIZ CHENEY:

So, to your knowledge, this statement was never issued.

CASSIDY HUTCHINSON:

It was -- to my knowledge, it was never issued.

An inconvenient fact. Interesting how so many posters don’t understand the role of staffers and seem dumbfounded at how much they know.

I am SAYING that real journalists published in real newspapers are not disputing the testimony. Surely we've all learned by now not to trust random thoughts by random people on Twitter

Or are some of you still eating Ivermectin? It would explain a lot!

Real journalists are on Twitter breathlessly repeating that a source may have said such-and-such. Not random people. FYI

But whatever real-time thought posted by a real journalist is not "journalism". It's just ramblings, musings.

The ratings of these hearings are deplorable. The vast majority of the country has moved on. This grandstanding non both sides is wasting time and money. The country has moved on and is worried about inflation, crumbling infrastructure, and high gas prices. They really do not care as much as the small minority of posters here seem to think they do or should.

Completely false. Millions are watching. Millions want accountability.

MILLIONS are not watching. The ratings do not reflect.

They are watching. They are watching streaming which isn’t recorded by the ratings.

For every 1 person watching tv I know 20 who watch later via streaming.

Wrong. Nielsen +7 accounts for streaming.

No one I know on the left or right is watching nor do they care one bit!

So low-brow.

Most of our friends are not watching but they are reading the summaries and discussing. the hearings have been in the middle of the day- not conducive to most working people.

You can keep telling yourself that until the cows come home but it simply is not true. I and everyone I know cares deeply and is following the hearings. Polls prove you wrong.

We are the suburban mothers who catch up on news when we can. We are also a major voting block.

Even the note she said she wrote and identified as her own handwriting is NOT true.

It's not? It's false? Have you read the thread?

According to some anonymous source familiar with the committee, familiar with the matter, familiar with the secret service, etc. When those people go testify under oath, I will pay attention.

+1 until they say it under oath, they’re just throwing sht at it to see what sticks.

Actually it's not clear if Herschmann, who has made waves with his own testimony (and Zoom room decor!) is contending he wrote the note (LITERALLY, with his hand and a pen), which she says she did, or that he wrote/dictated its contents (which she says Mark Meadows did, with Herschmann's help).

It again would be quite bizarre for her to lie about her own handwriting. And bizarre if Herschmann didn't bring it up in his own extensive testimony to the committee.

People,

Instead of responding to blatant lies when a troll pretends a witness lied under oath... just report it using the report button. It's not use cluttering up the thread with responses to troll posts. They know they have no leg to stand on, they just want to get a rise out of you.

Report, and Jeff will delete.

Thanks.

And posters here suggested that because they followed the gun laws, it should be clear they weren't planning any other sort of illegal activity on 1/6?

Was it publicly known before yesterday that gunmen were stationed in trees? That's the first time I've seen those photos or hear that audio, and it left quite an impression.

Same. Something about when the security officer on the radio was alerting others to an "elevated threat," referring to the armed insurrectionists in the trees, made me oddly uneasy. I say "oddly," because even though it's all dangerous madness, for some reason, the "elevated threat" struck me more intensely than the other testimony.

There’s a good article by John Solomon on this.

A reputable journalist does not do this. Again, know who you're reading. Do not retweet or write about rumors.
