The terms haven't been released yet, but apparently Edgar Maddison Welch has been offered a plea deal. I really don't understand this unless the terms of the deal are very harsh. I can't imagine a more open and shut case than this one. It would be an easy conviction. |
| I agree with you, I'm very surprised they would plea deal this. It seems possible to me that there's more going on with the owner that would be potential discovery/public information if it went to trial. |
| Most cases plead out, especially if they are open and shut. No idea here, but they probably offered him whatever they thought a judge might impose anyway, or slightly less, to avoid any risk at trial. |
| It's more expensive to take a case to trial. Plus it may give all the wing nuts involved in the conspiracy theory a platform to share their worldview. |

From the article: "Assistant Federal Defender Dani Jahn said during the hearing that prosecutors should continue to turn over evidence in the case. “Mr. Welch needs to understand the nature and extent of information against him to make a decision,” Jahn said."
He probably asked for evidence of a sex ring and is waiting to get it. Ridiculous. |
Very misleading to describe him as "shooter" in the title. |
| hopefully they get the truth out of ping pong |
Why? |
A person who shoots a gun in a restaurant is a shooter. |
??? Who is they? |
He shot the gun. "Attempted murderer" might be misleading, but not shooter. What do you think he should be called, and how is "shooter" misleading? |
Hopefully pp gets treatment for his/her susceptibility to alternative facts and fake news |
Should I have called him "man holding a gun which was fired"? |
I went and conducted my own investigation. The truth is that Comet Ping Pong has great pizza, courteous staff, and an excellent line up of punk rock music (although a little too late at night for an old guy like me). |
Don't be snide. Say "citizen-involved shooting", just as we say "officer-involved shooting" rather than "a police officer shot...". |
