US mortgage demand in March fell to its lowest since 1995, according to Reventure. Mortgage demand is now 43% below its recent peak and ~16% below the post-2008 lows.

Meanwhile, the average payment on a new mortgage is now nearly $2,800/month.

Trumps fault?
This means that the average American household would spend ~45% of their PRE-TAX income on a new mortgage payment.

On a post-tax basis, it's over 60% and this doesn't even include taxes, insurance, and maintenance.

There isn't enough housing, so it is more expensive. We have global inflation, so interest rates are up. Boomers are aging and not downsizing.

There are a lot of reasons for what is happening.

The Biden Administration is providing block grants to states for more affordable housing and is offering mortgage incentives for first time home buyers.

What is the GOP solution?

Where does the Biden Administration get the money for block grants?

In the bills passed over the first two years that the GOP uniformly opposed.

I did not ask you the mechanism. I asked you where do they get the money from?

You don't know? You should really take a 101 course before trying to participate here.

You actually don't want to answer the question because you know where it comes from.

You have the Biden administration forcing tax payers to subsidize housing because the only way he can win elections is to bribe segments of his voter base with other people's money.

The U.S. has been subsidizing developers for decade because they are big campaign donors. It is better policy to subsidize first-time homebuyers so then maybe developers will build for them instead of building only McMansions and high-end condos.

It's not better policy. It's all bad policy. The home builders raise prices to soak up all that free Washington DC federal money and the tax payer has less disposable income to spend on things they want with the money THEY earned.

You think this is why house prices are high? Or is this just a narrative you're trying to push?

Inflation up 3.5% since last year at this time .

We have rising rent, food, gas, insurance the average American is struggling under Bidenomics.

More Americans are in debt and less have savings than ever before.

Hold onto your hats folks, it’s going to get worse.

Narrator: It is worse in other countries, thank goodness we have Biden who has managed a tough situation to give Americans a better chance than anyone else in the world.

Price inflation at every fast food restaurant in the US has far exceeded CPI inflation since 2014.

Prices at McDonalds have DOUBLED since 2014 while official inflation data shows just 31% inflation.

Prices at Popeyes, Taco Bell, and Chipotle have risen by 86%, 81%, and 75%, respectively. Traditionally, fast food was considered to be a "cheap" food option.

Now, feeding a family for one meal at a fast food restaurant costs more than $50 in many cases.

Fast food is officially expensive.

Why are you going back to 2014? Biden hasn't been President since 2014. Anything about price increases prior to January 20, 2021 is totally not relevant to a discussion of "Biden's economy"

Over 1,300 layoffs hit logistics companies across US

Texas, Florida, Illinois, Michigan and Georgia firms say market conditions, loss of customers forced job cuts

https://www.freightwaves.com/news/over-1300-layoffs-hit-logistics-companies-across-us?oly_enc_id=7576E4150945E5B

In addition to the layoffs, this tells me there are fewer deliveries and shipments taking place. Demand for goods are down.

Consumer spending numbers do not support that assertion. Maybe those companies are being outflanked by Amazon and its logistics division.

Did you even read the article? Most of those layoffs were due to operations being outbid on contracts. The deliveries and shipments are being done by someone else.

Soooo Republicans don't give huge tax breaks for votes? Is that what you are suggesting? Both parties give money, they just give money for different things.
