Books for 12 yo DS

DS needs to replenish his bookshelves.

He has read and enjoyed percy jackson, harry potter, divergent series, narnia, although he has kind of outgrown percy jackson (he lost interest after book 4 and usually finishes series). He also enjoys books such as westing game, the giver, hoot, black stallion, secrets of nimh, warhorse, the great brain. I am trying to get away from diary of a wimpy kid type books.

Any recommendations for great books or series would be wonderful! In other words, I am just looking for great books for the 12-14 year old set. Favorite books that you still remember once you grow up.

Orson Scott Card -Enders Game series. The Magic of Recluse series. Switch gears and go historical fiction with Hornblower. All safe for 12-14 year olds.

Agree wth Enders Game, also Hitchhikers Guide, the IQ series, Artemis Fowl series, The Golden Compass, Wrinkle in Time, Wizard of Earthsea, Sword of Shanara, Llyod Alexander's series, Over Sea Under Stone, The Once and Future King.

Oh man, to be young have time to read again ...

My son has the same taste (though he loves all Rick Riordan!). He read all the Artemis Fowl books last summer and loved them. Has your son done The Secret Series? The seemed to be fun, pretty quick reads. Also loved the Wrinkle in Time series. Dave Barry has some middle school books that he recently enjoyed. And if he hasn't read it Holes by Louis Sachar is wonderful.
