It is like they are hoping something bad happens to them like Diana. This is horrible. I was thinking she was being petty about Kate. The security thing is what is really showing how awful the crown is

And in the context of all the death threats they were getting. WTF? They're cutting security to their own grandson/son/brother, who is getting regular death threats? It's shocking for "the firm" to do that, but it's also family.

The British Royal Family didn’t cut off security. Meghan and Harry left their security behind when they left England. The British government (the Metropolitan Police Department, if memory serves) provides security for the BRF. They could have stayed in England and kept their security. The British taxpayers weren’t going to pay for multiple British police officers to live in the US full time. When Royals travel abroad on official travel, security is usually provided by the local government, but the Canadians and US governments said no thanks to putting the cost on their taxpayers for full time residents.

As for Archie needing his own security, how does an infant need security apart from that provided to his parents? As for the security of Nottingham Cottage, they chose to live there because they didn’t want to live in Kensington Palace. They moved away from the facilities where security could be provided and then whined about not having security. They can have security — they can move back to England.

Meghan said in England only Harry had security. Meghan and the BABY need security because they are targets for terrorists and psycho stalkers.

They’re concerned about their safety, so they leave behind their protection officer and move out of their homes in protected royal palaces and move thousands of miles away to a private home?

White man from the height of his privilege.

Meghan can pass for white and it seems all of her friends and boyfriends were white, attended private schools all her life, born in diverse and progressive Los Angeles. Clay, a GAY white man from the SOUTH is far less privileged than she ever was.

Sounds like you’re white. To black people, her black ancestry is clear. I would’ve placed her as either biracial or just a light skinned black woman.

Be that as it may, if the white people she is predominantly interacting with see and accept her as white/one of them, the fact that black people recognize her as mixed race doesn’t negate her privilege

Your whole argument is faulty. My DH is white, I’m the only Black person in my division at work, most of my friends are white and they accept me as one of their own. So excited that I’m white now too!

Yes, if you are as fair skinned as Megan and straighten your hair then for all intents and purposes your friends/American society writ large probably will view and treat you as white. Not sure why that’s surprising.

You are truly hopeless.

At the risk of derailing this thread I honestly don’t understand what you are taking issue with. I myself am a light skinned biracial woman- I grew up with mostly white friends and am married to a white man. While many African Americans do recognize my features as being biracial, the average white American is generally clueless. Similar to the black poster up thread who noted that to black people Megan’s ancestry is clear and that the posters suggesting otherwise must be white- it’s a pretty typical phenomenon.

They wouldn't have been able to "make it" without a $20million house? ffs.

You all would just love for them to live in a shack.

Because those are the only two options?

In California? Yes. A shack is a million dollars. The Sussexs actually got a deal on their home. It should have cost far more on paper for the location, privacy, renovation and square footage.

LOL

Why don’t you take a look at real estate in Montecito and get back to us. Under $15 million is a deal when your neighbors are paying $30-$90 million.

Because they HAD to live in Montecito. Sure.
Harry has a few friends that live there. So, it makes sense for them.

Agree. I don’t buy it. She’s toxic.

+1.

Things just don’t add up with her. I think the BRF is toxic but it always has been, so she offered no news in that regard. So also got exactly what one could expect marrying into that family. I think actually think the BRF went out of their way to accept her at first (likely because she is black and they want to appear modern and open). Doria was invited to Sandringham, Charles walked her down the aisle, the Queen brought her along on some of her engagements. But Meghan obviously will not follow protocol and seemed to be more interested in what’s in this new role for her vs. how can she support the monarchy. She wanted media and attention, just on her own terms.

I find Meghan so off-putting that it’s hard to feel sympathy for her. I believe she’ll twist stories and all out lie to make herself look good. I do feel sorry for Harry. I think he’s not bright enough to realize the damage she has caused to him and his life. While she plays the victim, he truly is one.

ITA.

Research shows people are not usually sympathetic to black females.

How about biracial females like Meghan?

No matter the gravity of the story (the Kate flower girl whatever, to the racist questioning of Archie's skin color, bc whoever questioned that would have done so regardless of king or being a nobody), why the hell would you let your wife air such personal matters on global television??? I'm just dumbfounded by all this.

They didn't win. the BRF didn't win. Oprah did.

Nah...they won. They were not allowed to defend themselves on that side of the pond and they were eaten alive. They won. Meghan took the high road and didn't attack her bat shit crazy trashy sister because someone would say she is going after her poor disabled with MS sister. She had every right to call out racism and not giving a shit someone is suicidal. They protected the queen, Willy and Kate even though I'm sure they were not innocent. For the record I don't think Meghan is a saint. She needed shades of narcissism to survive her childhood with a sister who is green with jealousy and hatred, a bitter divorce between the parents and who knows what else. She did not deserve all that bad press. The number of times Kate was complimented for the same thing Meghan was demonized for was ridiculous. I'm sure Kate the Great is breathing a massive sigh of relief Meghan went easy on her. I suspect it wasn't deserved, but they both were catty to eachother.

Had she truly taken the high road, she wouldn't tell the entire world about a private conversation that occurred between her husband and her family- not even her. She HAD to ensure that was shared bc she has to be the center of attention.

And as someone mentioned earlier, had she TRULY had active, suicidal ideation with intentions to harm herself, and champion mental health as she said she does, this would have been the perfect opportunity to share how she sought help after she had left the Institution, so that others may empower to do so. Packing your bags and moving to a private island Canada and L.A. doesn't treat suicide ideation.

It can help very much to remove oneself from a terrible situation if one has become suicidal. And she doesn't owe anyone the nitty gritty details of the treatment she eventually got.

Oh shit it’s 5AM in London and the BBC is already covering this. The interview doesn’t even play in Britain for another 15 hours.

I don’t have 1/100th the wealth they do and still chose the best place for my family. And Meghan grew up in a nice middle-class LA neighborhood. This is what the British tabloids decided to introduce her as -

That has nothing to do with race. They would have been equally vicious if she was some random middle class American white girl. Instead of shootings, probably how many overdoses were in the county or something along those lines. You people who live your life obsessing over race really need to seek professional help. It must be miserable walking around obsessing about race all day.

Is it just me but he didn't sound really all that happy when Oprah asked him what his life was like now.

I wondered that too since they said nothing is off limits.

It's not that interesting to hear about her trashy family.

DP and while I'm not going to dispute your own experience, MM doesn't read as white to this white, midwestern lady. I would have pegged her as of afro Caribbean or afro-latina ancestry.

The Scots are going in and of course the Americans are hot - not going to be a pretty week for the British royals.

Security costs a few hundred thousand dollars a year. Instead of a $15M house, buy a $5M house. There's your security budget.

Security isn't about security or any real threats. It's about her obsession -- which you also see in DC -- with feeling important and high-status.

THIS!! I was in the work situation from hell and being sexually harassed trying to go up the chain of command to get someone to care. When i finally gave notice, filed an official complaint and left I felt like I could breathe again. I loved away, found a better job and OMG I was beyond happy. (He still works, but after many more complaints after me added up with the ones before me, he did not reach the level he wanted and was asked to leave.)

She doesn’t owe anyone nitty gritty details?? She’s literally on Oprah airing her in laws dirty laundry! She’s free to do so but then don’t complain if people want to know yours too!
