Hamas has been planning the attack for about two years, possibly since Operation Guardian of the Walls (May 2021). There were ample intelligence warnings, not least by the IDF spotters situated on the Gaza border, all women. Clouded by an overarching “conception” and (masculine?) arrogance, IDF commanders dismissed these fateful alerts. Moreover, the US House Foreign Affairs Chair confirmed Egypt’s claim that it warned Israel about an impending Hamas attack days before it happened, but was ignored (Egyptian Intelligence said that the warning was delivered directly to Netanyahu’s office).
Netanyahu was voted out of office in 1999, returning in 2009; and again in 2021, returning in 2022. Each return was preceded, as in 1994-96, by a massive inciteful campaign, and each time he returned with vengeance. During his 2008/9 campaign, Netanyahu denounced his predecessor PM Olmert for negotiating peace with the PA and for being soft on Hamas, pledging to swiftly dismantle the organization. Notably, however, it was the 2008 IDF operation Cast Lead, under Olmert, that came closest to expelling Hamas from Gaza. It feels like we're about to get kicked out of the US now, too. But thank you PP for proving why we care so much that Israel continues to exist. |
I’m wondering what do pro palestinian republican/third party voters think of their decision now?
Would love to hear their viewpoint. |
It is now past time to implement UN Resolution 194:
The United Nations General Assembly adopts resolution 194 (III), resolving that “refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible.” Palestinians now in Gaza need to return to their land and homes that Israel stole during the Nakba. Israel created the problem of two million refugees. It is now morally incumbent on Israel to house and feed them and provide healthcare to all of them and education for their children, who have now been out of school for over a year. It's absurd to suggest Jordan, Syria, and Egypt take in refugees when they did not create this crisis. Israel created it and needs to clean up after itself. |
I heard the Arab states created it . Told Muslims to get out of Israel as they were going to bomb it when Israel first became a free state. So they moved . Some stayed and did not fight in support of Israel so Israel kicked them out. None if the Muslim countries would allow them in thus the start of refugees in Gaza and West Bank. Blame the Muslim communities for creating this problem and not attempting to live in peace. |
Your history is incorrect. Zionist terrorist gangs (the Irgun, the Alexandroni Brigade, etc.) and the early version of the IDF ethnically cleansed 750,000 Palestinians (not all Muslim -- some Druze, some Christian) from what is now Israel during the Nakba (1947 to 1949). Zionist terrorists and the IDF also massacred about 15,000 Palestinians, in part to try to scare the rest away. These groups also told Palestinians to "temporarily move" for "security reasons," and then never allowed them to return. Veterans of the Zionist terrorist groups and the IDF have admitted in interviews that they committed many atrocities against the Palestinians, including rape and murder. They also robbed Palestinians of their possessions. In many cases, Palestinian homes were bulldozed, but some were simply stolen and repurposed. For example, the village of Ein Hod, now an artists' colony, still has its original Palestinian cottages, which were stolen from the rightful inhabitants. The village mosque is now used as a pub. Palestinians were forced over borders into neighboring countries. On the long, forced marches, they had to stop at IDF checkpoints, where Israeli soldiers would pilfer their jewelry, watches, cash, and other belongings. If they tried to get back to their homes to recover some of their possessions, Israeli soldiers would murder them. This is now well-documented and has been since Teddy Katz, then a student at Haifa University, began researching the topic and interviewing Zionist veterans in the 1980s. Your sanitized version is not true. |
Somewhat accurate-ish, but misleadingly incomplete. All of this happened AFTER the Palestinian leadership rejected the UN mandated 2 state partition and launched attacks on Israelis. Meanwhile, the nascent Israeli leadership accepted the partition. So, yes, Israeli extremist militias committed atrocities against Palestinians. But the Palestinian leadership (and their Arab allies) created the initial conflict in rejecting the UN's action and attempting to extirpate Israel. As usual, plenty of blame to go around and no clean hands in this one. |
I'm sure glad those college protests blamed Biden for everything..... Somehow that made people refuse to vote for a completely different candidate. Harris..... And instead wanted to vote for the guy who said he wanted to burn it to the ground. Seems logical.. |
Relocated or dead? Biden championed death. |
Biden supported a 2 state solution and Palestinian independence (albeit toothlessly). Trump opposes both. Which do you think is better for Palestinians? |
Trump because he said we would take over Gaza and BiBi was immediately mad if you watched the announcement. He didn’t know about this. Frankly, Bibi needs to be put in his place and Trump is the guy who will do that. |
Snort |
Trump, obviously. Get the Palestinians far enough away that they can't keep attacking Israel and there will be fewer Palestinian deaths from the predictable and reasonable Israeli responses. Left in place, history shows the Palestinians will never be content to leave well enough alone and will keep trying to fight battles with Israel they historically never win. Their perpetual optimism that they somehow will ever prevail is underpinned by no reality, but keeps them coming back for seconds, thirds, etc. They need to be neutered by being relocated far enough away that they can't keep entertaining such feckless fantasies of eventual dominance. |
History? Well that also shows that Jews get chased out of every where they try to live because they cause issues, so Palestinian resistance is warranted if you want to consider history. |
Wow - antisemite much? |
