It is not in this area.

And I would think SJC would beat anyone in MIAA. And Prep and Landon are as good as any of the MIAA teams this year. Would go 50:50 against MCD, Latin, Calvert Hal, or Spalding. Maybe MIAA is deeper, but not clearly better.

SJC and Spalding have played the last few years with Spalding winning each time.

Spalding is the scrimmage champ.

In a real game? No. Scrimmages and Fall don't count. SJC was about to play Calvert Hall right after Covid hit (3/13/20).

Doesn’t matter who SJC plays this year. No one will defend their attack group and no one will score enough to win. Better hope for another Covid year.

Overall the 25’ class is a little weaker than usual, but could uptick with some holdbacks.

There will be 0 25’s that will contribute to any of the top 4-5 WCAC teams.

IAC will be the same with the exception of maybe a kid or two at Landon and a kid a SSSAS/Episcopal.

Given the summer and fall of the '25 club teams in the area - MadLax, Hawks, DCE and NL, there is no way that the 25s don't make these rosters. Start, probably not. But it just seems laughable that they won't factor into some of these teams as seasons wear on, injuries pick up, etc. Landon in particular should benefit from ML 25s and Bullis from DCE 25s. Prep, GZ, PVI and St Stephen's should be more of a mixed bag as no one club seems aligned with any one of the clubs.

Freshman make varsity on mediocre or bad high school teams that don’t have large rosters. The top high school teams with strong rosters rarely have freshman on their rosters and if they do they rarely play.

The top programs in the area have starting line ups full of kids who are already going to play for top colleges. They are not going to need freshman. If a 2025 starts it says less about the team not how good the player is. Be happy to play JV

The SJC kicker may have something to say about that. A bunch of the SJC '22s got to WCAC final as freshmen starters including the kid who failed t transfer to Spalding. Every situation is different. Didn't Landon have a bunch of '24s play last year?

You will typically see a freshman or two or three starting for less competitive program in the area, think of a program from the MAC (Potomac, Flint Hill or Saint Andrews) and even the lower caliber programs in the WCAC (O'Connell, Ireton, Good Counsel, the Heights) or in the IAC (St. Albans and Episcopal)

Impact freshmen do start from time to time in the IAC and the WCAC at the top programs.

Joey Epstein (Hopkins) started as a freshman at Landon. Alex Trippi (UNC) started at Bullis from day one. Jack Myers (Ohio State) tore it up at Gonzaga as a freshman as well. I could be forgetting a few others but these 3 names certainly made a name for themselves.

Last year alone, Landon had 2 freshman start for them and both of them were high-impact offensive players. One of SJC's best offensive players last year was the freshman attackman and SJC was clearly the best team in the area last Spring.

SJC 22 class had 8 players on the field their freshman year. Got to the Championship game and lost 8-6 to a Gonzaga team full of Seniors. Boys are just different.

Why won’t Landon play SJC this spring?

I don't know, why don't you email them and ask them.

Did their open dates not match up?
