Please tell me you are not an Eaton parent. And if you are, please go to Maret. Also, what on Earth does "national origin school" mean? |
|
It means my children are dual nationals. Their other nationality has a school in dc that prepares them for university in this other country (often viewed as their home country). So they graduate with what looks like a HS education from this other country. That means language, for example, but it applies to all subjects. It's quite common.
I'm not the Maret poster, fwiw. |
'twas a joke, yo. |
It means british school, french school, etc. pp just didnt want to specify which nationality. |
Whatever it is, it doesn't count as diversity in DC. |
I'm excited! And agree that messing with OOB enrollment should be down at the bottom of the list of IB families' concerns with the school. Increase IB enrollment and the good times will roll. Kick out OOB kids and all you'll have is empty seats. IB mom of preschoolers (who went to Catholic school and kind of likes the idea of uniforms for the most socially awkward time in anyone's life) |
| What is the answer to this question? Shouldn't real data be released by now, or is it still the 'early estimate' stage? |
I'm one of the obsessives PP's, and even I am waiting for "count day". |
+1. When is it? |

Release what? Who should release it? Do you think the Principal should do a press release? Post in the website? or what? Do you have any idea of the fact that the only statitistics that schools are allowed to publish on their polpulation are the school profiles compiled by DCPS ? Do you mean that DCPS should make a special issue of its OB/IB statistics for Hardy?
What do you mean "release"? Who should release the numbers, and where? I do not get what you want. Hardy parents have already leaked the statistics, just see posts from a couple of weeks ago. The school and the Principal are not authorized to release demographics of the current student population. If you want "off-the-records" information, send an email to the Principal and ask to meet with her, she will surely give you the more-or-less numbers. Those who continue to call for the IB number data release have no idea of how DCPS school degree of autonomy in releasing statistical or demographic data. |
| Count day is usually in ealry October, that may be the better data point. |
My school principal (not Hardy) informed the crowd of my school's IB/OOB numbers at Back to School Night the other day. There's no rule against "releasing" the numbers, talking about them, whatsoever. It's math; it should be encouraged! |
She will surely release if you ask her. |
| I heard that about 8 students from Key went to Hardy this year. |
I heard four sixth graders who attended Key last year, plus two new eighth graders who moved IB for Key this year. I hope they all have a good experience. |
