So the person who used all caps to emphasize that it was at "EVERY" restaurant didn't remotely mean that? They meant just shitty American chain restaurants that most of the people in here claim they would never even go to? |
you are just being needlessly obtuse and You know they didn’t mean places like frekan Chopt or five guys. Honestly, how you can go from those places to say “you only meant shitty american chains” is telling. And more than likely a Japanese or thai restaurant would provide buttered noodles on request-they just likely wouldn’t be penne or bow ties but the kind of noodles that they have there. They have noodles and butter. Most of those places don’t even have kids menus at all so it makes sense that people would request something simple like that for a kid sometimes. |
The person assumed a basic level of common sense, which you have sadly failed to demonstrate. That’s on you. |
No, that person doesn't know what words mean or how to communicate effectively. Common sense tells you that this crap meal is available at a few restaurants and sometimes only by request. Try that next time. |
Any good restaurant has both pasta and butter on hand, lol. That poster actually posted a bunch of chain restaurants that *don't* have this on the menu. |
You know OP was not adding parmigiano reggiano or making an emulsion with the pasta water. be for real. |
They may have the ingredients to whip it up for a picky kid but it's not on the menu like it's the chef's special. Which goes back to the original point that this lunch is an odd choice. |
Ha ha ha!!!! |
Nope, you’re just painfully stupid and don’t understand how to “read between the lines” - the obvious implication is that any restaurant *that would otherwise serve pasta* would also have buttered noodles on the kid’s menu. Now, is that an exaggeration? Sure! Nobody actually thinks that EVERY restaurant (ahem, that would otherwise serve pasta - I say this again because I assume you forgot already) offers the same buttered noodles kid’s meal option. However, the intended effect of this exaggeration is to demonstrate that this offering is, in fact, extremely common. I hope this helps. Maybe stay off TikTok and YouTube tonight and try to read a book or something. |
Lol. So cute! But you still don’t get it. Stay mad! |

Here are two Italian non-chain restaurants who offer the usual including pasta with butter. It’s really not that unusual. And it’s really not that unusual to eat just one item at lunch or whenever.
Perezza Restaurant Menu for children ages 10 and under Orecchiette and Cheese16 Pasta and Butter16 Pasta and Tomato 16 Spaghetti with Meatballs 20 Chicken Tender Parmigiano 16 Chicken Tender with Fries 16 Cheese Ravioli and Tomato 16 Pasta and Tomato 16 Spaghetti with Meatballs 20 Chicken Tender Parmigiano 16 Entrees Children’s menu Pasta & Butter. $10.00 Choice of bucatini or paccheri noodle Pasta & Marinara. $12.00 Choice of bucatini or paccheri noodle Paccheri With Pork Bolognese $13.00 Crispy Chicken Tender $12.00 |
I don't think any (normal) person here thought buttered pasta or any other item on the kids menu is the chef's special. |
|
There are quite a few kids who prefer buttered pasta as opposed to tomato pasta.
Here’s a popular NYC chains answer to the issue ….. Kids Menu MAKE YOUR OWN PASTA Pick a pasta: fusilli, rigatoni, penne Pick a sauce: butter, tomato, meat sauce There were some immature posters who kept talking about poor food or depression area food and insulting people’s take on it. I always remember pasta with sauce or butter being offered at Italian restaurants for kids. It’s just a simple matter of choice. Neither one is superior to the other. Not everyone will eat like you do, we all have our preferences. |
Get a life |
| I think I posted up thread but can’t remember. But in DC , Pizza Paradiso , Matchbox , the Salt Line, Maggiano’s , and Old Ebbitt Grill all have buttered pasta listed on their kids menu. There’s probably more that I’m forgetting but it is served at many places around here. I’ve never had it and neither have my kids but I didn’t know so many people thought it was a weird meal. |
