Actually they are 35,000 pound bombs.

Largest non-nuclear explosives around. Only a few planes can carry them. Iran will definitely know who dropped them.

They are kind of cool - as long as you watch it on YouTube from a few thousand miles away.

35,000 pound bombs is something that gives you joy to watch?

Do you know how inhumane your lot sounds to normal human beings?

Well, they are not that exciting. Not like mushroom clouds and shockwaves from 1960s Godzilla movie.

They penetrate into bunkers- some say 200 feet, some say 400 feet.
Dunno, never had one dropped on me.

But they are a marvel of tactical destruction for anyone trying to avoid a bomb.

You just really, really don’t want to be around one - above ground or below.

Rumors are they suck all air out for a good distance and your lungs will come out your mouth if you are near impact. Tongue gets sucked right out within half a mile. Intense stuff.

You sound like a Nazi excited about gas chambers.

We used them in Afghanistan several times.
It’s just physics and combustion of that intensity consumes all available oxygen and creates pressures your body cannot handle if exposed to the ordinance.

Cave or bunker- oxygen is finite in those spaces and flows to the weapon and the explosion will consume all available oxygen at a velocity unsurvivable within certain distances.

Best to avoid any encounter with them in real world.

I have seen 500lb bombs dropped in fields in Vietnam. In the open.

They had under 200lb of explosives.

If you were in 30-50 meters you died from the vacuum depending on dispersement.

A weapon with over 5000 pounds of explosives burrowing into dirt and earth would have a massive close in proximity kill radius. It would suck anyone near into the impact area. Maybe 100 meters?

If multiple were dropped on same target I am not sure anyone could know would happen. It could literally create a tornado or something we have never seen for surface damage. I do not think it has ever even been tested due to costs or requirements.

And using this will destroy the Iranian will to build a nuclear bomb?

You surely got it figured out

Not really sure.

But you drop 5 or 6 GBU-57 or newer versions on irans most protected underground facilities I think it is safe to say they will be set back 10-30years. And out about a trillion dollars.

Then Israel just starts blowing up bull dozers as they try to to tunnel somewhere else for a decade or two.

lol sure. I guess if you have no concerns about the cost of the operation. It would be a a very big escalation if the US got involved in this war. There is no need to be involved.

We also made Iran stronger with the Iraq war. Saddam was actually a check on Iran.

Foolish. Absolutely foolish.

Why do we keep falling for neocon rhetoric over and over? They are always disastrously wrong.

“we” arent falling for it. Republicans are.

For sure some Democrats are. Look how silent they are.

What's done is done. This war won't end until Iran's nuclear and missile programs are finished. There is zero chance that Saudi Arabia and Israel can live with a nuclear threat from Iran at this point. I really hope Iran's regime concedes the loss sooner rather than later. The US is moving all sorts of assets to the area. If Iran doesn't give up its nuclear and missile programs, I suspect the US and Israel will obliterate Iran's military forces from the air until there is regime change, whether by popular uprising or coup. But that leads to chaos in a giant country with 90 million people.

What they are doing is leaving us open to attack from China and Russia. We will be openly vulnerable, all to defend Israel. It is insanity.

How?

Hawaii just had a completely unannounced emergency alert test a few days ago. Why do you think?

https://www.staradvertiser.com/2025/06/13/breaking-news/city-officials-no-emergency-after-hi-ema-test-alert/#

Essentially we are sending defensive resources to the Middle East, leaving the US itself more vulnerable. Good thing Israel will be safe though.

We have 11 aircraft carriers.

We also have 14 Ohio Class ballistic submarines (Trident) that can launch MIRVs and TLAMs.

We have a metric s***-ton of military hardware to bring to bear.

Your turn.

Israel does not have anything like that.

Sure. Tell me the last time the US successfully got involved in a ME war where it benefited in the end, and then tell me the last time that happened when there was a waiting superpower with demonstrable military power waiting for the US to be exceptionally vulnerable.

Now do this in an era of cyberwar, autonomous drones where the other superpower is demonstrably better at those drones, and where we have a disorganized leadership structure under Hegseth and a visibly demoralized rank and file (see: parade).

We can’t fight a two front war. And our distraction in the ME would be an excellent time to strike. We aren’t ready. And China is.

Remember all the talk about Hamas using human shields? Well, it turns out Israel’s military brass and government are all hunkered down underground in tunnels and bunkers while the people are unable to flee or move.

Now, do Israelis see that Hamas and Bibi are the same? They are friends for a reason

DP no. It most likely will not. There are many exit and entrance tunnels and it is deep underground facility. GBU-57A would create rumble that would act similar to a pile of sand. The result after the first bomb would decrease greatly to the point of diminishing returns.

The only thing that would destroy the site would be a nuclear weapon. It would have to be a ground burst or sub ground detonation. This would vaporize a vast amount of bedrock. It would make the fallout highly radioactive and would contaminate vast areas in and outside of Iran. The atmosphere contamination would kill 1,000’s x kiloton of people per year with cancer.

There was a Russia nuclear scientist who did the calculations. For every atmospheric nuclear blast there is a corresponding number of people world wide who will be killed. This is different vs ground fallout death. It has to do with kiloton yields x 1,000’s of death from cancer. This is why they agreed to stop atmospheric nuclear testing.

I do not think the US will get involved with this war. It would be a total and complete disaster for the US both domestically and internationally. Better to let Israel and Iran blow each other up.

I think a more damaging point everyone is neglecting is how we /Trump lied about negotiating with Iran. Iran believed we wanted a deal and we were acting in good faith with the Oman talks. How will any other country, especially nuclear countries, ever take us at our word? They’ll tell us to F off and hit the road.

The President just admitted the talks were all a ruse/a lie. This is extremely damaging to us for future talks.

I also don’t believe him. I think Bibi blindsided him/the Us and he actually did want a deal with Iran to avoid war. It just proves how much of an idiot he is for ripping up the Obama deal years ago

MAGA will go crazy if he attacks Iran. He has to know Israel does not have support in maga world nor does getting involved in a war in Asia.
