Manifesto McRant: I've had it. I am so tired of what appears to be one mean-spirited poster targeting one school and, for the most part, one team.

Who am I? I am not a Sidwell parent. I am not a Sidwell graduate. I don't have children who play football. I do have kids who play sports at other DC-area independent schools. I do have good friends who graduated from Sidwell, and a couple who teach at Sidwell. I do think it is incredibly nasty to constantly harp on the fortunes of one team of high school kids, some of whom are as young as 14, mocking their efforts when unsuccessful under the mantle of criticizing the "state of Sidwell athletics." I believe that as much fun as crazy DCUM world is, occasionally it would be good to lock a thread, but I get that that is not the policy and I respect that it's a policy that has worked well for this very successful site.

So, I am going to start posting results of other Sidwell sports teams in this thread, and lots of them. And I'm going to bump other threads up when the Sidwell Football Stalker posts their usual mean-spirited responses.

Sorry, but I'm just tired of reading this stuff for a year.

To be honest, nobody cares about cross-country. Who cares what the previous poster's best time in the mile is? What does prove?

NP here. Maybe you don't care about XC. But many people do. Check out the MoCo running site - it is a heavily visited website that covers cross country and track in Montgomery County for public and private schools. Many of these kids are going on to D1 schools to run. Sidwell's top runner last year went to Yale to run. So be careful who you call nobody.

St. Albans cares about cross-country; it's the biggest and most successful team. In the last few years top runners have gone to Yale, Vanderbilt, Davidson, and Princeton, just to name a few.

XC is an inconsequential sport.

XC is actually a very big sport in this area among both private and public schools. In addition to Sidwell and St. Albans, other top teams include GDS, Gonzaga, Good Counsel, Walter Johnson and Whitman. GP also has a strong XC tradition, though the team hasn't been as successful recently. Among smaller schools, Burke and St. Andrews have done quite well. I'm not as familiar with the VA schools, but I know there are some great runners in NoVa.

Sidwell gets back on track, beating the mighty St. James team 32-7. St. James is now 1-5 on the season, losing their games by an average margin of 32 points.

At this rate, no doubt Sidwell will be challenging Good Counsel as the best football program in DC area.

Can we please stop this drum. Yes Sidwell is undefeated in their league. Great. When they played outside their league they lost to Dematha and Gonzaga. Dematha is the number one team in the area, and they beat the #1 ranked team in the nation. Considering that Gonzaga beat Sidwell, it is a little hard to understand why Sidwell is ranked 7 and Gonzaga is ranked 9. When Sidwell starts beating these teams, then go ahead and start posting again.

You're crowing about Sidwell being in 2nd place in the MAC after ONE game? And the win was against the league's doormat. LOL.
