With an endowment of over 50 Billion, why would it?

If it isn't stopped by courts, the government can still crush Harvard.

Which is such an insane stupid self-destructive thing to do.

Not only will Harvard lose federal funds but also lose foreign students and its accreditation as well.

Say good bye to racist Harvard.
how quaint. Where did you attend university. If it can done so easily to Harvard, let’s pray the next person do it to BYU, Notre Dame, Liberty U, Wash U, UVA and others. Say goodbye to higher education as we know it and hello to Moscow U.

I dunno about the Moscow U business, but would it be such a terrible thing if the entire university system was brought down and something new replaced it? The current university model is an antiquated, 800 year old idea that made sense before the printing press existed (centralizing scholars and being students to them).

The facts have now been reversed and knowledge can be widely and cheaply distributed. The modern university is not really responsive to modern times or technology. They have become bloated and strayed far beyond their public mission.

Only if doctors, nurses, and engineers are required to identify where they went to school, so we can avoid the ones "educated" under you new model.

Large endowment, but Harvard is under a cash crunch and having to borrow large sums.

Welcome to the Cultural Revolution. It worked out so well for China.

Harvard’s endowment is massive. Why is it it getting federal funding? Frankly I think if you’re a private school you should be getting funding elsewhere and just the state universities should be receiving it.

But to continue your thread of logic, why should a state university receive federal funding? If private universities should be completely privately funded, state universities should be completely state funded. The federal government should stick to West Point, Annapolis, Air Force, Coast Guard, etc.

Just because it needs repeating...the funds do nt go the school itself. They are in the form of competitive grants that researchers at the school applied for and won.

So the Fed is trying to hold back funds they awarded people.

State universities can be better held accountable to tax payers, their research is often broader and aligns with national interests and they are meant to serve the general public.

These are research grants we're talking about. Just to be clear. Whether flagship state research university or Ivy research university, it's public funds investing in research, science, innovation. Our future.

Cutting grants to Harvard is a short-sighted self-destructive thing for the government to do, as everyone knows but no one is willing to tell the president.

Let’s stop feeding the trolls.

Obviously any strain on the higher education industry in this economy and climate of uncertainty will lead to the collapse of our primacy.

They are engaged in racism when admitting students. I would hold the science suspect with all these DEI practices.

That’s because you are a moron and have no concept of scientific peer review or funding models.

God, I wish I could withhold any knowledge and progress gained from research from these morons who want to defund research. These kind of morons just want handouts. They don’t want to pay in- they just want the benefits. Get yourself a factory job or a job picking fruits and stop being a freeloader.

Your answer demonstrates your utter ignorance on why Harvard "receives" federal funding.

If they are so "smart" they should be able to invest their massive money pile in ways that pay for their research mission.

If they aren't smart enough for that then I don't trust their "research"
