Closing USAID

That is 100% what we are witnessing.

Well PP, the work that President Trump has done has resulted in a number of movements in the realm of federal aid which were very much prompted by or a result of, past actions of a certain former administration, which has guided President Trump’s advocacy for what needs to happen.

And the administration is not going to stop doing that. The administration is not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on all the issues surrounding international aid.

The work that Trump has done is zero. He has zeroed foreign aid and has zeroed domestic grant funding.

That wasn't "prompted" by anyone but Project 2025 and tech bros' Randian fantasies.

I'm just a regular person and the amount of dumb stuff this dept spends money on is pretty infuriating. Why is there also over 10k employees for a dept most Americans have never heard of. Good riddance and I hope they go back to the core mission under the state dept.

Calvin Coolidge and Barry Goldwater are smiling.
William F Buckley can't believe that of all people it was that rascal Donald Trump who achieved this.

This raises an interesting question: how much of these aid dollars result in material benefits to marginalized people and how much is to pay for staffing and other costs?

From the link:

CRS reaches more than 200 million people in 121 countries on five continents, according to its website

Among the programs and services provided by CRS: water and sanitation, education, agriculture, health, microfinancing, climate change resilience, as well as justice and peace-building programs in addition to emergency and disaster assistance.

CRS had 7,000 employees worldwide as of 2018 when it marked its 75th anniversary.

USAID math is always fuzzy and made up when you really dig in to what is going on.

Democrats: “We are going to audit your $600 Venmo payment!”

Also Democrats: “No don’t audit USAID!”

It is audited every year. We just didn't want you to end it. That's what happened.

So is Elon going to cut his own government grants? Shouldn't we be more focused on private corporations accepting grants?

An audit, or a large scale overhaul, is one thing.

Closing USAID or "moving it into State" while closing it is something else.

Did you know that? Or do you think closing and auditing are the same thing?

The notion that USAID isnt a laundering scheme for the left is ridiculous. Half of Politico's revenue comes from a 10k per person subscription fee so the permanent bureaucracy can nuance the law they're supposed to already understand.

Here is a statement from a longtime AUSA now retired:

"If ever there was a governmental structure perfectly designed to permit bribery, unauthorized expenditures and money laundering it is the USAID. Typically there is no credible mechanism for a foreign entity to be audited in order to see how or whether funds are spent regardless of whether the expenditure advanced US interests. DOJ, however, does have the capability of obtaining evidence through mutual legal assistance agreements with foreign countries. It should be a priority for DOJ."

USAID: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Archwell Foundation received $13,004,470 from the government, but the IRS is restricting details about the source. Was it USAID? The foundation EIN: 85-2213963 funneled millions to other left-wing NGOs. Why does the US government need help from Meghan to give away taxpayer money?

Whoever authorized this theft must be investigated and held accountable.

Samantha Powers?
