Gullible. Governor Northam’s comments were in regard to providing comfort care (palliative care) and not life-saving measures to babies born with terminal conditions who likely wouldn’t survive more than hours to a few days. Those comments were twisted to make it sound like he supported killing babies after birth, and people were dumb enough to believe that…including my parents, who blindly follow whatever Fox News tells them. |
+ a million PP should count themselves lucky if they or their family haven’t had to sit and watch a newborn with no hope of life slowly suffocate and die within an hour of birth. |
It is no different than Roe. The fact is, no provider gives abortions in the 3rd trimester unless there are issues. |
In theory 15-19 weeks (before viability, which is constantly pushed to an earlier time, it used to be 24 weeks not to long ago, but now more 21-22weeks) would be doable, but “exceptions for life of the mother” is a vague and in medical reality difficult, and non-feasible as a law - because as a medical professional you want to intervene BEFORE the mother becomes deathly ill or is in a life threatening state. States where such exceptions have become law prove over and over again, that this is exactly what’s happening. Care is delayed, future fertility put at stake, life is threatened, all due to delay, waiting for the mother to deteriorate is NOT good medicine, obviously. On the other hand, there should be exceptions for a baby that is absolutely not going to live, pure torture for everyone involved to be forced to carry to term. In other words, I’d say “no” to elective abortions even sooner than 15-19 weeks, but all medically needed options need to remain open, and not “framed” vaguely by laws which do not account for the medical complexities we encounter in medicine. |
Killing a baby after it has been born is either not happening at all, or murder. This is already punishable by law, and not what these abortion bans in other states are about, there is no need for a ban to make killing a born baby illegal. No sane physician even does any late term interventions for elective reasons. |

That’s one word for it. |
| Any upsets yet? |
| Durant is currently leading but only 55% of the votes are in. |
OP here. Made hundreds of calls and knocked over 500 doors. I'm calling it now, Dems will take both chambers. |
THANK YOU!! |
Thank you sincerely thank you! Virginia is super important in terms of democracy. |

Am I reading this correctly that there was over a 99% turnout in Loudoun County:
https://enr.elections.virginia.gov/results/public/LOUDOUNCOUNTY/elections/2023-Nov-Gen VOTER TURNOUT 99.11% Ballots Cast: Registered Voters: 290,855 293,478 |
| They were predicting roughly a 45% turnout last night. I think that number is either wrong or means something else. |
