I read it. A lot of words, not a lot of concrete rebuttal.

The truth will come out in the litigation at this point, which is a good thing.

Thank you for fixing it. Much appreciated.

Fierceton’s story is probably destined to become a movie plot and possibly a Broadway musical: possible titles- Ivy Mask/ Varsity Bluffer/ U Penn Pretender/ College Charlatan.

In the right hands, telling her story could illuminate the insanity of US College application and admission processes, flesh out Fierecton’s humanity as well as manipulations and be entertaining.

yes, will take its place alongside the Lori Laughlin college admission scadal and the Jackie U.Va. rape hoax. All fell apart once the media started asking a few questions

I do honestly wonder though if Fierceton could have gotten into Penn and/or won a Rhodes Scholarship by playing it straight and not embellishing her story.

I agree x1000. But in the rape case UVA did a great but disgusting job of covering/ misdirecting. Yes one person embellished. But 2 women were raped and their rapists convicted. But all anyone remembers is the Jackie story. Sad.

Embellished? She made the story up. It was all a complete lie. And so many on DCUM (including maybe you?) rushed to her defense even as the story fell apart. I see the same thing here with the Fierceton case.

Once again, you are ignoring the fact that 2 women in the story were raped by that frat.

They were victims of the "women don't lie about rape" assertion. Because the one person did, in fact lie, the two who were raped were now tied to the liar.

No they weren’t. Please go read Wikipedia. There was one woman involved. She claimed the rape took place on 2012 but didn’t make any reportage until needled by the reporter for Rolling Stone case who was looking for a victim to write about for a rape feature. It was a total fabrication. The story (one woman) came out in 2014. At that point UVA did shut down the frats while the Charlottesville police investigated. In 2015 the police shut the case because it became clear the woman had lied. Rolling Stone Magazine retracted the story in 2015. Some of the names men and their families sued Rolling Stone Magazine and recovered damages. There are not two other women in the story. What did you expect Teresa Sullivan to do when this story came out? Ignore it? I think she handled it well. But while you’re at slamming schools for prematurely siding with the victim be sure to mention the shameful actions of the Duke faculty in the similar Duke Lacrosse case. . Those wrongly accused men also recovered damages.

^ I forgot about that one. What was astonishing in both cases is the high percentage of DCUM posters who abandoned plain common sense to side with the young women despite the total evidence showing their case had no merit whatsoever. The same thing is happening here with the Fierceton case..

Also the “I’m emancipated” had been tried so many times for UVA they have a whole section on their webpage or blog explaining that they don’t accept “emancipation” as defined by Fierceton.

Did they rape the stripper... no.

Did they threaten to with a broom stick.. yes.
Did they call her the n word ... yes.
Did they hire strippers.... yes.
Did one write an email saying they were going to kill and skin strippers... yes.

Again, yes, there was a false accusation, but much of the horrible stuff did actually happen.

Did they deserve to be falsely accused of rape and go to trial.. no.

Did they deserve to be suspended some lacrosse games... yes.

Unless you were a professor at Penn or have intimate knowledge of the practices at Penn, you have no standing to make the statement that she was not one of their best students. They nominated her for a Rhodes Scholarship but she’s not one of their best students? Then they are completely unethical and are not to be trusted in anything they do, including this case.

Marshall scholarships to Oxford are about being the best student. Rhodes are after more about packaging, being an athlete, well rounded, compelling personal narrative. Also a college prof and oxford grad.

? what are you talking about? That had absolutely nothing to do with Jackie's false claims of rape against the U.Va. frat, sensationalized in the Rolling Stone article. Like here, she made some spectacular claims which any reasonable person would question as being fiction.

oops, apologies to the pp - I think you were agreeing that there was a guy who confessed to rape several years after it happened - his conscience got the better of him and he called and confessed. That had nothing to do with Jackie's bogus rape claim though.

I feel a bit personal about this situation. My DC with the same stats: awards Academic awards. Sports awards, recruited. Very High GPA (much larger school). How hard is it be be 1st in class of 14, Fierceton? Compared to public schools with very large classes of 400+
In any case DC was wait listed that year for UPENN, then rejected. All good as DC accepted at another Ivy, graduated summa, isn’t a liar, didn’t cheat, didn’t sue the university, has endured hardships and so on.
So Fierceton not only defrauded UPENN and the Rhodes committee but stands out as having defrauded the whole system. Not to mention the now new standard “exaggerate your hardships and victimhood” which is now widespread.
I’m sure there are plenty of other applicants that didn’t lie, didn’t defraud, didn’t violate academic standards who were also turned away.
Shame on you - “Fierceton “ name changed to protect the guilty. You got off easy.
