DP.. most people would consider them ME Muslims because that's what they look like. It's not about the continent where you are from, but what you look like. And of course, they don't like Muslims.

For reference, Middle East refers to the (non-European) countries which used to be part of the Ottoman Empire + Iran. Afghanistan is Central Asia, though it is sometimes lumped in with South Asia for strategic reasons.

For those saying we owe the Afghans a place in the USA because we destroyed their country, think again. It was a very bad place way before we got there. It got a bit better when we were there, but we couldn't hold their hands forever. It's going back to what it was meant to be. A theocracy run by thugs.

I think most posters are arguing that we owe a place in the US to the Afghans (and their immediate families) that we hired to work for us, placing them at much higher risk, and promised we’d look out for- not the entire population.

The article I read said very few are staying here. I believe only if they had family in the area.

I’m ok with them staying as long as they plan to immediately work at pay taxes and we are not subsidizing their stay. At the rate we are going, the US is heading to a socialist society without the benefits of free healthcare for everyone. We own a small family business and taxes + high healthcare costs are killing us.
