This. My son got his first job and started a month ago. The country club offered them a bonus if they could recruit their friends.

Awesome. Name the place. Help out OP with concrete examples.

NP here. I know Belle Haven was looking, they sent an email out to members about a month ago.

I've heard that it is better to go in person, but I question why, if Panera needs workers so much, they don't respond to online applications. All three of my kids applied online and heard nothing. If you don't use your online applications, then don't offer them.

How much do managers at individual locations have to do with online applications? My guess is not much if they have signs out saying "Open interviews every afternoon from 2-4pm" The OP's best bet is to talk to actual managers at locations to see what they recommend.

Where are these signs? Inside or outside?

Every sit down restaurant my kid has tried says 18+ only.

Wegmans

Grocery stores are a good idea!

My teen was rejected by Wegmans because they weren't looking for temporary help.

Mine too.

One sign on the front door and the other one on the counter near the registers.

I am on Rita’s of Fairfax’s email list. I got an email this am saying they were hiring.

Grocery stores, especially Wegmans, are quite desirable hourly jobs and unlikely to hire 17 yos. I know two people who work there FT and both are older and have college degrees.

Then they probably shouldn't state that they hire 16 yr olds. My 16 yr old got an interview there but didn't get the job. Maybe they should be more specific in their hiring.

Some seasonal job ideas for teens:

Lifeguarding, front desk, or snack bar at a local pool, apartment complex, or Rec center

Six Flags

Marina/dock worker

Country club or golf course - front desk, caddy, food runner, etc

Camp counselor: community centers, local sports leagues, city or county camps through rec centers, private (companies like Steve and Katie, etc)

Ice cream/custard/gelato shops - demand is higher during the summer months

Good luck to your teen!

Swimming pool management companies are still hiring and offering Lifeguard training. A quick google search came up with these two large pool management companies offering training the first 2 weeks of July at multiple locations. So I imagine there are other training opportunities from other companies for teen summer employment as well.

McDonald's is hiring. Literally every one I've driven past this week has signs in the doors and in the street saying they're hiring. The training curve is much shorter at McDonald's than most sit-down restaurants. Try McDonald's.

My 18 year old (so there may be a difference) got an immediate offer from Six Flags with barely a (virtual) interview. I know 15 year olds who got jobs at Chik Fa Lay.
