Where can teens find their first job? 17 year old having no luck

So look at places that are summer only like camps, pools, country clubs etc.

My 17 year old is working at an AMC theater, and according to her they are still actively hiring.

Don't know if it was just my local HT, but they said they weren't hiring seasonal workers, so if you are looking for summer work only, might not be an option.

He was never on a swim team, so that’s not an option

He doesn't need to have been on a swim team. My kids work as lifeguards and are the only 2 on the staff that were ever on swim team. Can he swim 4 laps of the pool? tread water for 2 min? Then he can do get certified.

This is a bit unsettling. A lifeguard only need to demonstrate very basic swimming skills?

+1. McDonald's, Burger King, etc.

There’s more to getting certified than this

McDonald’s. There’s got to be one somewhat close by that is hiring, right? Something like one out of every eight Americans has worked there, I think. You’ll learn valuable life lessons, such as “courtesy is contagious.”

Wegmans

Grocery stores are a good idea!

My teen was rejected by Wegmans because they weren't looking for temporary help.

Why would you go in saying you just want a summer job. Say you want a job. At end of summer, if you want to quit, quit. If you want to stay on, stay on. Why do people feel the need to share so much information.

My son just got his first job at Chick Fil A recently. They hire teens on the regular.

Kind of depends on what the opening is.

I guess it's honesty.
