Parents must change diapers at daycare policy?

Kind of like when my husband hand over our son to me in the morning so he can take a shower. If there's pre-existing poop, it's not my job to change it.

How do you not fight incessantly? I'm a single mom but when I was part of a parenting duo, we used to have a policy of letting things slide. Poop responsibility would have surely led to an even earlier demise.

Daycare worker here.

I was told that when the parents are present within the classroom, then they are responsible for their child. If the child bumps his head while the parent is there, it is the parents responsibility to tend to the child. If the child poops while the parent is there, then the parent changes the child.

However, when a parent comes to me and says their child pooped in the car, on the way to daycare, I always change the diaper unless the parent insist that they do so and simply ask where the diapers are kept. My job is to serve my clients and the clients are the parents. I have no problem changing the diaper.

You may be at the wrong daycare if they don't change poopy diapers immediately.

I simply want to say this because i completely agree with the daycare! If the daycare sent your child home, shitty or pissy and said "Well we are closed its on your time" there would be a serious issue, why is there any difference? If you knowingly drop your child off soiled, you should absolutely change them.

Yes you should change the diaper.

Had to "change" the diaper regardless of whether it was wet, dirty or clean & dry. Seemed a little silly to waste a diaper if it was clean (and the time it took), but from the daycare perspective, it means the teachers are more available for helping the kids transition into their day rather than changing diapers.

It would have been nice if she had offered to change it for you this once though.

We toured a daycare with this policy and crossed it off our list.

And you bumped this why, over a decade after the last posting?

It makes perfect sense to me. Shrug.

Well, that’s a parenting failure on your part, but thanks for sharing, I guess.
