Ugh. That’s the sign of an insecure boss.

My brain must be working very slowly tonight, but what does this mean?

I previously worked at a competitor and was always asked about my former coworkers (what schools they went to, their bonuses, what areas they commuted from). One person even said verbatim "aren't you glad you don't work with those c-cks-ckers at Company anymore". It was so bizarre.

Oh yeah, my company is like this and it's quite weird. The funny thing is the competitor is down the street and they always say "the company who shall not be named down the street." Like Voldemort or something.

Mine does this too. Like they’re Slytherin and we’re Gryffindor. Gag.

They like to think they party hard and work even harder and that they’re the smartest (and coolest) people in the room but I actually secretly think the only movie reference that’s even close is Animal House. Or maybe Old School.

Glad I'm not the only one.

I'm unclear on how I would use the restroom on behalf of someone else.

And why that would indicate that the boos wanted her to get COVID.

NP
I read it as a female employee was asked by her boss to use the men’s bathroom so that another female employee who might have cancer wouldn’t get COVID19 from sharing the bathroom with the PP.

Correct. Pretty sad that was difficult for multiple people.

It would have made a lot more sense if the poster had said the boss DIDN'T want her to get covid.

Nope, what's "pretty sad" is how poorly it was written.

Employees would regularly wear inappropriate attire to work. For example: crop tops, booty shorts, sweatpants with things written on the butt ('HOT MAMA').

Had a holiday party where we had to dress formally and the one senior woman came dressed for an 80s prom.

My hours were 6am to 3pm.

A coworker (male) asked me if I could drop off his dry cleaning for him downstairs.

A different coworker had a calendar with women in bikinis on it in his cube.

The guys would often go to lunch at a strip club nearby, supposedly because it had 1/2 price hamburgers.

I quit after 2 months.

This was all one place???!!! Yikes.

I'm on board with racial equity, but hate is hate. Except for Jews I guess. I've been there 11 years and hoped to finish my career there, but I'm looking now. Had one interview last week. We'll see.

Amen. +1000. Sick of DEI being shoved down my throat. I want to run away.

I just got this treatment last week. Basically told not to speak or defend our processes. Then why even invite me to the F - ing meeting? I am retiring from this crap dictatorship of a federal regulatory agency in a little over a year. I can’t wait.

It was so weird. I get letting your direct supervisor know, or at least letting them know if you deviate from a regular schedule. But I would receive 20+ messages daily about where everyone was working, plus I hated having to tell everyone I was WFH when I did it because it was almost always related to a chronic health issue and I hated having to disclose that (or lie) every single time.

I know work FT from home (since pre-Covid) but companies like this that have never been able to figure out accountability around WFH must be a mess right now. Or maybe they finally figured out that you just have to trust your workers and then hold them accountable if they abuse that trust. Anyway, no emails me to tell me where they are working or detailed info about their doctor's visits anymore, and I'm so grateful.

Oh, I worked in an office like this - jr staff would email everyone every detail of where they were going, even just a 1 hr dentist appointment. But then the partners would sometimes leave on vacation without telling anyone (including jrs who were in the middle of preparing matters with them!) I just never followed the lead of jr staff and nobody ever said anything to me about it.
