Every club should have one and only one travel team for each age group all the ones who get cut should play in the clubs rec program comprised of B team thru D team.

Coaches of sports that start older love that attitude and are happy to pick up the athletes fed up with soccer because of troglodyte coaches.

Are you a child? Or one of these coaches? Or THAT coach??? The OP was commenting on a coach displaying unprofessional behavior with ALL his team, the other team and the referee. Why do you keep trying to make this about one persons kid who isn’t trying or good enough? That’s deflection. This is a thread about coaches who are making the grade, not kids.

The fact is the new normal is to lower the expectation of athletes. Make it seem that its just a game that everyone can play together and the worst kid belongs on the field with the best kid. That everyone did a good job. We all know thats living a lie. We need a thread about parents who raise snowflakes and are are given an award for failure in the particular activity they chose to compete in.

this thread was started about a U10 coach from a middling club. How about we recognize that 9 year olds aren't athletes, they are 9 year olds

Yelling & screaming at 9/10 year olds is child abuse. There’s can be NO reason why coaches need to yell/scream at kids especially at this age. Winning a U10 soccer game is not important enough to abuse kids.

And that right there my friends is why the current and future generations are doomed. Please go take your less talented kid who is too soft to be told he did anything wrong and kick rocks. If raising your voice to yell is abuse you have lived the most sheltered life ever. Dont be a part of a competitive athletic environment and expect to change it make your little sissy feel they are always right even when they fail.

Reading comprehension not your thing? OP was pretty clear - this was a coach losing it at his entire team, the other team and the ref. One kid or a couple of kids - sure, maybe they shouldn’t be in travel soccer or he is being tough as a specific strategy in those individual kids. Not good coaching - but maybe all he ever learnt himself. When it is the entire team, the other team and the ref - at that point it isn’t anything to do with the kids - this is a problem with the adult.

Was that sarcasm? Why cant there be different levels of travel with different expectations? Why make the player pool so small? So many reasons why this is far from a good solution.

Perhaps its time players learned that 90 mins of training 2-3 a week is not sufficient for development and a coach expects you to work on your own and watch games. It’s really mismanaged expectations that causes a lot of these problems. Absolutely carp coaches exist like OPs. Every time i hear about a coach like this, Everyone knows its a gfr coach at the younger ages.

You are the problem with kids sports. I've seen so many of you.

My kids are in college now and we've had coaches like you. They drive their kids like maniacs and then you never hear about their kids in sports again once college rolls around. I've seen so much of this testosterone driven bs that amounts to absolutely nothing. You aren't very smart but yelling gets you noticed and makes you feel big. The rest of us know what you are.
