How often do you allow your teen to get their nails done? Do you allow Gel/tips? Highlight hair?

Why? Because there’s plenty of money for highlights and fancy cuts and still tuition, expenses, and everything else you’re all saying would be a better use of highlight money. We pamper her because we can. The end.

My DD is 19, and she had $15 chain-salon haircuts until she was a senior and a stylist really messed it up. We agreed to go somewhere better to "fix" it, so she's been three times to the nicer salon. Now that it has grown back out, I'm not sure that we will continue with the more expensive salon.

With nails, she always kept them short and unpolished until about a year ago. She has anxiety and would pick at her nails, which was definitely a problem. She wanted to get gel or something like that for an event, so we agreed and then realized that the thicker nail kept her from being able to pick at her fingers. Who knew? She doesn't get tips or wear them long, but we agreed to keep paying for the gel part (or maybe it's a powder) to help with the picking problem. She's tried other fidget things, but this has worked the best.

None of these things on a regular basis, specifically because nail salons have too much carcinogenic fumes floating around, and because too much hair dye damages hair and potentially also has long-term toxicity. If either of these were perfectly safe, I wouldn't mind at all.

Fertility has been decreasing for years, PP.
Perhaps it has to do with all the chemicals we’re surrounded by. It’s best for growing bodies, who are more susceptible to toxins, to avoid such non-essential things like nail salons and permanent hair dye.

Don't worry, there are plenty of humans. We are not going extinct anytime soon!

Do you want YOUR daughter struggling with infertility, or diagnosed with hormone-based disorders, or at increased risk of cancer?

I honestly don’t understand why people think infertility is such a tragedy. Too many people on this planet anyway.

It's pretty devastating when you are going through it. I would never want my daughter to suffer like that.
