Ok! |
| The only thing that is wrong with this bypass is the roundabout at Brookeville Rd. With the morning commuters, there is no way anyone will be able to enter from the side roads. They should have built aa bridge over Brookville Rd. |
| And it is still under construction. At this point it’s a joke between my husband and myself. |
|
Still under construction...when are they going to finish this? It was a mistake to even build something like this to start, there was no need.
Also to the OP asking about interchanges, where would you put that? |
| It is a lot of money but on the upside it will make this historic village function like a small town rather than a thru road for trucks and commuters, which makes it unpleasant. Boon for property owners. |
| I just don't see a need for it. |
The interchanges would be bigger than the town they're looking to serve
|
What towns is it meant to serve? |
You must not live on Brookeville Rd |
I've seen teens going between houses quite a few times. |
Maybe it needs to wait until the Purple Line gets competed. (joke from down county) Construction in modern day America is really hard and really expensive and takes way too long. Plenty of blame to throw around. As noted, there are not many pedestrians in much of Brookville. I hope that this bypass creates an environment where more people and kids feel safe enough to get around on foot. I look forward to seeing how it plays out after a couple of years. Now facing a 2026 deadline, Purple Line construction to ramp back up https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/transportation/now-facing-a-2026-deadline-purple-line-construction-to-ramp-back-up/ "light-rail line, now expected to begin operation in fall 2026." note: Purple Line construction started in August of 2017. |
The tiny settlement of Brookeville. I'm assuming the PP meant size wise. Some interchanges are pretty big. |
|
It's not meant to "serve" Brookeville, it's meant to let the rest of us bypass the continued flooding in Brookeville every time it rains and the 90 degree turn when we are commuting every day.
Not sure what's taking so long. Every time it rains I pray the road won't be flooded. |
First, it’s a bypass, not an interchange. Second, the bypass will be beneficial to the Town of Brookeville by connecting Georgia Avenue on either side of the town. Currently, Georgia ends at High Street and you must make a blind left down a hill onto Market in order to reconnect with Georgia. Third, the bypass is important for increasing safety by taking traffic away from the old narrow roads in the historic town and will add a much needed bike lane. |
| Wasted money on this. I drive by their everyday and I cant' help but think MDOT wasted tens of millions of dollars on something that was not needed at all. |
