Ice Cream Nightly

I don’t eat it every single night anymore. My appetite has changed in my late 40s. But ice cream is so good!

Lol yes to both. Fine pleasures in life.

For the record, I have a huge sweet tooth and eat some sort of dessert (or multiple desserts) every day. I've been on a brownie sundae kick recently for some reason. No big deal as long as I cut back on other calories and eat plenty of fruits and veggies.

Fat and calories don’t matter.

I think 25 g of sat fat a day is too much. It is above the daily recommended value of 20 g which is already too much for a country where the leading cause of death is heart disease.

Cup of ice cream is not 400 calories.

A cup of ice cream like breyer's is only like 250 calories. A cup of the super rich stuff is like 400.

It's an unhealthy habit, that is certain. Sounds like a sugar addiction to me.

That is precisely what it is. And OP is in denial.

My family farms and make a proper dinner every night, including dessert. No one is overweight.

DH and I have a sweet snack every night. Still not overweight.

Enjoy your ice cream and don’t worry.

This is pretty shocking.

Any doctors on here want to comment?

It’s not shocking and no where near an equal comparison. The foods and lifestyles of today are vastly different than that of some middle aged person’s long dead grandparents that worked a farm.

Nope

I eat it nightly and weigh 110 lbs. I am five foot.

Life is not worth living without ice cream and chocolate in moderation.

Bagels are made of flower and water so are donuts.

I have ice cream and/or dessert nightly!

I exercise regularly, eat plenty of vegetables, and my blood tests are all great.

My current addition is a Trader Joe's "sublime" ice cream sandwich every night.

Personally I’d rather drink my calories with good wine or a stiff high end cocktail than stuff my face with ice cream every night.

Orange juice and fruited yogurt are not "just sugar bombs." There are plenty of nutrients in the oj and pro- and prebiotics in the yogurt.

Not everyone is concerned with calories. And your "stiff high end cocktail" and "good wine" could be a much bigger problem than sugar is for many people.

Context matters.

Have you tried lactose free ice cream?

Yes, it tasted awful.

Both of my parents turned into nightly ice cream eaters in the years before their deaths. They seemed to eat nothing but ice cream.
Therefore, I avoid it altogether. Life is good.
