secular Christmas is an oxymoron

Just call it the festival of Sol Invictus. That was the Roman holiday the Church took it from. People all over the world want to celebrate the solstice--the time when the sun comes back from the dead (Latin: Sol Invictus, unconquered sun). Now, non-religious people have appropriated it from Christians. Happens all through history.

One holiday a year where I give gifts to my kids and others. I think it’s ok. Not religious. We all enjoy it. Call it call it commerce Christmas, ok with me.
