Trump-appointed GSA administrator refusing to work with Biden transition team

And if there were some law requiring her to conclude Biden was won (which, of course, he has), there would be no need to invest this duty in a particular office. I won't say it's not a big deal, because to all accounts this is highly unusual and nothing like bush v gore, but she will get there. Helps of course that Biden has experience in governance not just as a Senator but as VP. As a subplot of the series, I'm willing right now to assume this is a fairly minor one.

I would like to see more Rudy drunken comic relief, though.

Tangential--if this were a tv series, would it have been an easier to keep up with all the plot threads? I mean. Breaking Bad was manageable, by season 3 of Billions I was confused and didn't want to re-binge the previous season to refresh myself. The Trump Era--impossible, I would say. I'm amazed at the people who can follow all the strings between the pushpins.

Is she actually free to move about and do her job? Wouldn’t surprise me if she’s been detained and can’t physically issue the letter.

This post is insane. She supports this fool.

There is a process, but the final certification of the electoral college vote doesn’t happen until around January 3. If Biden has to wait that long to fully launch his transition, we will lose valuable time for addressing the pandemic (plus the economy and other pressing issues).

Actually, states need to resolve the election counts and court cases and legal challenges by December 8. That is when the totals need to be finalized and the latest date when the GSA administrator can accept the result and move forward.

December 8 is when the state election boards need to certify their election counts and report to the state legislature. The state legislatures would then compile their slate of electors (usually those are completed before the elections are certified) and submit to the governor for signature. December 14, the electors report to the state capitols and actually cast their votes. The electoral votes need to be sent to Congress by December 23. January 3 is when the 117th Congress will be seated. January 6 is when the new Congress will count the state votes.

But essentially the GSA administrator has a deadline of December 8 when all court and legal challenges need to be resolved and election results delivered to state capitols.

I am well aware of all of the full timeline. With Republicans raising the prospect of faithless electors, though, that will give the GSA administrator over to delay until January.

I really hope she won’t do that, but I have no confidence anymore. I went to law school with her and never would have thought of her as someone who would play Trump’s game for even this long, so I don’t know what to think of her anymore.

emily.murphy@gsa.gov is absolute trash. Go read about some of the shenanigans she's been involved in supporting this orange monster-criminal. She should be in jail.

Yeah I have a good friend who knew her in college and is totally unsurprised by any of this.

While this is great, according to the GSA staff directory her actual email address is emily.murphy@gsa.gov.

I emailed her

emily.murphy@gsa.gov

I'm ashamed that she's a Smithie.

All my Smithie friends have emailed her.

Do it again and again. Email her every day. I'm doing so.

She is putting our national security at risk.

What a traitor.

Amazing. With all her life being related to work for the government, either in a fed position or as a contractor, how does she think this will play out for her in January? Nobody will hire her.

THIS is really interesting. Seems to me that there's an effort to just do an end run around Trump.

I think its a HUGE mistake, not to PUSH BACK hard on the way Trump is damaging our Democracy by his repeated statements targeted to mislead millions of American's into losing their confidence in their country's very institutions.

Indict him for Tax Evasion and start the criminal charge filings on him

Make his future VERY clear to him

I think his future being very clear to him is precisely the reason he's trying so hard to retain power.

Was it James Carvalle who was talking about this before the election? He didn't think the dems understood the lengths they would go to to retain their power because they know they will be facing federal indictments. Drump's idiot sons are practically hysterical because they have been running a criminal enterprise and it will be found out.

I don't know what to google. What type of shenanigans?

She's an embarrassment to Smith. They lowered their standards when they let her in.

Maybe we do need to organize a protest.

Seriously people, Bibi alone would make sure Trump, his children and his grandchildren are exceedingly well taken care of.

“Murphy, who declined through a spokesperson to comment, was at the GSA when it decided to keep housing the Trump International Hotel in downtown Washington’s Old Post Office Pavilion and when it abruptly reversed plans to relocate the nearby FBI headquarters that could free up real estate for a competitor.”

Hahahahahahahaha

“Emily Murphy, head of the GSA, recently sent that message to an associate inquiring about employment opportunities in 2021, a move that some in Washington interpreted as at least tacitly acknowledging that the current administration soon will be gone.“

So she is out looking for a job, but sits on her thumbs to ensure the country grinds to a halt in January.

Screw that.
Anonymous
She will be complicit in the murder of more people as she is helping hold up the rollout of the vaccine. Stupid woman!!
