Yikes, this sounds like it could be a big problem! Can she really withhold transition resources as long as Trump doesn't concede? https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-gsa-letter-biden-transition/2020/11/08/07093acc-21e9-11eb-8672-c281c7a2c96e_story.html |
It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. |
She either send the letter or she goes to jail. She is in contempt of congress for doing her job. |
No I don't think she is. Trump has not conceded and the vote is still not official. The media has just called it. In a typical year the losing party concedes and ends things. |
Same thing happened during Bush v. Gore in 2000. |
Contempt of Congress ...I do not think any republican would be scared of that. |
When are the states required to officially announce the winners? Don't they have election commissions, a process? |
Biden can get reimbursed later but aside from access to funds it does help Trump's narrative with his base that the election is not over. |
I am 100% the Biden team can get around this no problem and let it fade into the background as a non-issue. |
There is a process, but the final certification of the electoral college vote doesn’t happen until around January 3. If Biden has to wait that long to fully launch his transition, we will lose valuable time for addressing the pandemic (plus the economy and other pressing issues). |
Except, then only Florida was in questions, and now there is no questions and Mi, Wi, AZ, NV, PA, GA all flipped. Are you going to sue all the states? |
Biden can do some things without this authorization, but this authorization is required for the transition team to have access to non-public records that are critical to an effective transition. |
Biden is supposed to be able to embed people in agencies and to start the background checks. That cannot happen until the GSA signs off. This is a problem. |
There wasn't a willful withholding, it is was that the election wasn't resolved. In this case, it is. |
