Nonsense. Elrich already ate all the ham sandwiches.

The only way I'd vote for Elrich is if a member of the Trump family was running against him.

Erlich is probably running. He just killed the FOIA act (MPIA) yesterday to hide his admin’s incompetence (and probably corruption) using COVID emergency act as his reason.

I can tell you as someone who knows him he is most definitely NOT running for governor. I doubt he’ll even go for a second term. He’s 72 and exhausted.

I’ll either vote for David Blair or any non-councilmember for Executive in 2022. Same for governor - someone who’s not predictable, within the system. MD Dems badly need outsiders and new blood. Please.

Part of it is definitely the fact his office (2nd floor) is overwhelmed. And they are new to management in general, so they are making mistakes. But I highly doubt he's running for Governor and pray he doesn't run for a second term here in the County.

I understand the feeling of wanting someone new. But look at Will Jawando. He's new, and he's basically running the Council right now. And not in a good way. I'd be cautious with the newbies.

That said, his time has come and gone. It's time for him to pass the torch. He's been around for so long and he's lost his edge, and it's apparent that he can't manage at the executive level and has been much more successful as a rabblerouser than a manager. Based on what I hear from those around him, he's ancient, he's exhausted, he's fed up, he hates the job and the current council, and I hope he retires instead of running again for Executive, let alone governor. I don't have the heart to vote against him but couldn't vote for him either. I'd probably just sit it out. I hope he chooses to retire and endorses a progressive younger candidate to carry the torch.

Elrich is the Bernie Sanders of Montgomery County politics - I am with him ideologically, but he doesn't get things done, he doesn't make enough allies, and he needs to retire.

You just roasted the guy, but don't have the heart to vote against him?

The county is in a spiral! No school for 300 days. Millions of undisbursed CARES Act money. Approved overtime/hazard pay on the incorrect assumption that FEMA would pick up the tab.

I'm not even going to talk about his idealogy (though he is too far to left for me even, as a Dem), he's completely incompetent as a manager. He just can't organize or get stuff done.

I'm voting for Hans next time.

He is the absolute worse executive manager we could have in the seat with all of the issues we are facing. Tax base is crumbling and our kids are falling behind...those two realities alone make him one notch above Trump imo.

I'm as liberal as the next guy but have noticed two things since moving to Maryland almost 20 years ago:
-- The Democratic party digs deep to find meh candidates for the governorship - Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Anthony Brown, Ben Jealous.
-- My governor is more often a Republican who doesn't make me sick. Disagree on the issues, not an idiotic ideologue.

I'm a Dem. Had a big BIDEN sign on my front yard.

But I voted for Hogan twice. Maryland local Dems are good on paper, but bad in reality. They just get caught up in their own way.

Elrich is the perfect example. He is a local politician facing some VERY hard local issues. But he spends his time talking about nation issues and tweeting about Trump, etc. The guy can't manage the county to save his life, but people here like him because he trolls Trump on twitter? Its embarrassing.

Oh no, please not Riemer. He's just as bad as Elrich. They are both clueless.
