| Why should he limit himself to governor? He needs to be a democrat presidential candidate in ‘24 ! |
I'm sure this poster is a troll, but is the OP a troll too? |
|
It's possible. When Elrich is up for re-election, he's going to face some stiff competition. At least 2 Council members are term-limited so their only option is to run for County Exec. I know Riemer will give it a run. Blair will probably throw his hat in the ring again too. Maybe Katz and Navarro as well?
So Elrich will have a tougher time making it through the primary. He could look to governor instead. The only way he'd make it through is if Republicans put up a real mess of a candidate, like Robin Ficker. If they put up our current Lt Gov (Boyd Rutherford), I think that could be a strong contender. Elrich is like an ultra-progressive version of Trump, with all the bungling and incompetence, but at least he's a decent person. But no way I'd vote for either of them. |
| Thank God I haven't bought a home yet in md. I'd move to va if loser elrich became gov. He's been terrible for moco and can't grow jobs. Yet he should run the state? |
|
Run Mark run. MD needs a straw man like you. There I corrected your typo for you. A straw man for the Unions.
In all seriousness, heaven help Maryland if Erlich is somehow able to break out of Loco MoCo. State voters are smarter than that - then again O’Malley was elected as governor... could there be two bigger empty suits than these two? |
he's really not a decent person though. but you'd have to be close to know that. |
| Jamie Raskin should run |
Van Hollen would be good, if we must pick a MoCo politician. |
|
My pet theory is that DC and MD have so many lackluster politicians because anyone worth a damn is already working for the federal government and is prevented by the Hatch Act from running for partisan positions.
Prove me wrong. |
Sorry, I don’t like leaders that prioritize tatoo parlors and escape rooms over children, but you do you. |
Yes I like both of them. I also thought that Richard Madaleno was good in 2018 but not exciting or well known enough for primary voters I guess. |
The problem is that there cannot be so many other Dens in the primary like last time. Ranked voting would solve this, but as long as the current model stands, local Dem politicians need to put their ego aside and coalesce behind one or two alternatives. |
I think you will find that the local Dems are planning to do just that..... |
I’ve known him for years. He IS a decent person, EXCEPT, he tends to hold grudges. Not really productive in getting things done esp with the council. But in person, he’s really great if you get to talk with him. |
| Elrich would make a great Governor |
