| A team / club should never shy away from a game. Very disappointed with LS. |
This is a boys thread. What happens in girls soccer has nothing to do with this. And what makes a tournament good or not is the participants. There are already plenty of top boys playing but the tournament would of course be better if all top teams joined. If this is really the reason for not participating - that “we don’t want to play because teams like us won’t play” - then some of these clubs are not only overrated, but replete with idiots. Talk to the other clubs and make sure you all play. Otherwise this ducking competition, nothing more. |
| "Arlington has better players and that's not fair" is the short form of this thread. |
Lol yes. |
Presumably if Loudoun had the opportunity to do this every week, they would. Wouldn't that be great? Pay $5K (assuming they still charge $5K now they are in ECNL and not DA) to be on a team that wins the league but never plays a game. What a bargain! I've met plenty of ex Loudoun parents on other teams my kids have played on over the years. They all have a story about why they left that leaves you shaking your head. |
| A ECNL TEAM HAS NO BUSINESS PLAYING IN STATE CUP. NONE. ZERO. A ECNL TEAM HAS NO BUSINESS TRYING TO RESHEDULE A ECNL MATCH TO PLAY STATE CUP. ARLINGTON IS WRONG FOR THIS . |
-- Signed, Loudoun TD. |
| Why doesn't an ECNL have any business playing in a state cup game? You act like ECNL teams are above winning a state championship...if they can. I know in my kid's age group, yeah, maybe Arlington has a good chance, but that is the only ECNL team in the running. |
| Everybody can take a deep breath and just relax. The state cup Semis have been moved to Sunday because of wet fields and the ECNL fixtures will be held as scheduled on Saturday. But thank you for a highly entertaining thread this morning. |
Loudoun doesn't enter because they would lose and they more they lose - especially to non-ECNL clubs - the less they are able to justify charging parents twice as much as other clubs (including ECNL clubs). Their teams are nosediving, the best kids leave for DCU, VDA and Arlington and nobody moves the other way. And they somehow think that claiming a forfeit win (and making their own kids sit at home all weekend instead of playing the game of soccer they have paid for) is going to help reverse this. They are utterly clueless. McLean enters their ECNL teams - which have similar league results to Loudoun's - and usually wins a game or two before getting knocked out in the quarter finals or thereabouts. But at least McLean understands that they best serve their kids by actually playing soccer against other teams that also want their kids to play soccer. Good for them. That program might actually improve as a result. Loudoun tells parents it doesn't enter state cup because it is "too good". The reality is that it's teams would be knocked out early. It would lose to Alexandria, Arlington, Legacy, and Skyline in most or all age groups. Heck it would lose plenty of age groups to McLean, Herndon, Beach, and others. But none of that really matters for this thread - all that matters for this thread is how Loudoun behaved when asked to accommodate another club's request to reschedule. It doesn't really matter what the reason for the request was. It's like me phoning up my co-worker and saying "Jim, is there any way you could possibly move that call tomorrow, something's come up?". And Jim replies "Let me check - oh yeah - looks like I could move it to the following day. But I won't do that for you Joe. Instead I'm going to keep it right where it is and make sure our boss knows you didn't attend.". And then Jim wonders why nobody likes him. |
Hah - so now everyone gets to see Loudoun's true colors and they don't even get the 3 points. Bwahahahahahaha. |
+1. What a pitiful marketing position. |
Replete with idiots. Yes - that's a perfect description of Loudoun. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to reuse that description myself in future. |
| Just looked up Loudoun soccer online. Google sent me here: https://www.lexico.com/definition/dick_move |
Signed parent of ECNL player not at either club. Loudoun is right on this. |
