Can we move this discussion to the 'Arlington to MLS Next next season' thread. It really doesn't have anything to do with SYC any more.

Players are already leaving. Sure, maybe MLS but definitely not State Cup champs this year. |
Fair enough - U15 had players leave for DCU, as may U14. That is part of the MLS Next vision, though quite obviously DCU will take the best regardless of club of origin. |
Which is why they wouldn’t be State Cup champs this year |
Exactly. Alexandria would remain in MLS and not consider ECNL which is a level below. I think both Alexandria and SYC will benefit from being in MLS by attracting players at an earlier age which can then funnel up to DC United once at the appropriate age to join their academy. Arlington will benefit in the same way if they join MLS but that would leave 3 clubs in extremely close proximity. |
Does SYC and Alex have better programs for boys soccer than girls? How/what do their top girls teams do? Do |

Let me put your statement in prospective. Alexandria U15 Red lost in the state cup to Beach FC in a close game. Beach FC was blown out by Arlington's ECNL team 1-6 in the same tournament. No disrespect to Alexandria, but their top teams are not one level above ECNL teams. including Arlington. With the current soccer landscape being dominated by closed leagues (ECNL, MLS, etc), which do not play each other much, the only way we can have relatively accurate assessment of the relative strength of the teams is when they play in the same tournament or do a scrimmage. The rest is a marketing pitch by each individual league! |
Not PP - but worth noting that that particular Arlington team has blown out most of its ECNL competition by similar margins. My guess remains that Alexandria is as strong as several of the ECNL clubs in the area. |
That Arlington team would have been DA had it existed. It only plays in ECNL because I assume Arlington did not want to wait for the uncertainty of whether the MLS league was even going to take place so they joined for the certainty of organization. The other ECNL teams have not been competitive vs Arlington. Arlington will be in MLS next year. Yes Alexandria is above ECNL. So is SYC, so is Arlington. |
This team is the best Arlington team in ECNL and they are THIRD in their division. They indeed beat Loudoun, BRYC and VDA by big scores, but Arlington also lost to VDA and tied BRYC. I don't think either SYC nor Alexandria are capable of getting a result against this Arlington team. |

Arlington’s U15 boys beat SYC 6-1 in State Cup. Wouldn’t be any different against Alexandria.
Arlington is the class of NoVA, this isn’t controversial. |
I would say it’s contestable. We will see what happens. But if you like preening peacocks who strut around barking like this idiot, you are either a Duke fan or an Arlington soccer parent, or both. We will take your scalps by the end of the year. |
Oh the irony. |
