DCPS really should have done supervised DL.
I can’t wait to see what this garbage looks like in a few weeks. And the fact that we, as a nation, don’t have N95 masks... that’s cool with folks? We are so desperate to telework in peace that we are chill? I for one have found the only silver lining in this that parents are no longer allowed in the building! |

The WTU checklist does not call for N95 masks for all teaching personnel.
Soap. It says teachers won't go back unless they can be guaranteed that there is adequate soap in their building. And my god, the fact that they have to even ask about this is appalling. "Is there a functional sink in the nurse's office?" "Does the nurse's office have a phone capable of calling outside lines?" Many of the items on the checklist should be SOP in normal times. The fact that teachers feel that they need to push the district on getting SOAP in the building is telling. I trust teachers to understand the conditions that they normally work under, and frankly, I think they've saved hundreds of lives already by standing firm on this. |
OMG please. Yes, they do want N95s. This is the checklist: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zy2AWv3XduEEDywPbVkpvZyFzUc_t6za/view?link_id=4&can_id=71a0a5afff3f46297aaa67cab790c349 |
the fact that teachers can’t organize themselves and their parent communities to get some soap is actually the concerning thing here come on. we’re in an emergency. I think teachers can figure out how to get some soap ... |
here’s the problem with your “SOP” line. If the demand is that ALL pre-existing issues be solved before kids go back ... school will never reopen. What this suggests is that WTU is trying to use COVID as a bargaining chip to get concessions that have nothing to do with COVID. Which is really gross. |
MV. Presentation above addressed needs and logistics of both campuses. |
It will be hard for DCPS to hold out if charters god back. Thank you MV |
Original poster re: Two Rivers survey results. For better accuracy, this is taken directly from the Two Rivers slideshow presenting the results: Family Data Summary ● 67% of families responded (459 families) ○ Families representing 63% of TR students prefered their students attend school remotely. ○ Families representing 37% of TR students preferred their students to attend in-person. As for the rest of the presentation, I think Two Rivers is doing a good job of explaining their decision making process and actions they are taking to move towards ever increasing onsite opportunities. |
pretty low response rate. |
Is that the schools fault? Should they just invalidate it since they didn’t get at least 90% of the school to reply? |
Well if I’m interpreting above correctly, 63% of the 67% that responded wants DL. You can’t say that is the majority of the school that wants DL. You need to either survey everyone or send out an email that if no response your default will be either hybrid or DL. |

This is ridiculous. Our numbers are very low. Lots of parents wants their kids back in school. DL should not hold these families hostage at the ECE and elementary level.
The science is there that kids should be back with our numbers. Give teachers and kids regular masks and be done with it. If you want DL then you can get asynchronous recorded lessons and less live teaching maybe 1 hour small group once a week for ECE - 2nd grade and 2 hour a week for 3rd-5th or something like that. |
Also add those teachers that don’t want to go back do the DL. |
Uh, you're gross. You are living in your little bubble of privilege and it's been pierced in some way. Soap, should be at every school regardless and it DOES have something to do with Covid, everything on their list does. Are some asks a lot? Possible but the chancellor and mayor can't even put basics in writing, just lying on camera saying 'yea yea we totally have the soap.' You know my school they have to RENOVATE because the air is so bad, we had multiple gas leaks and DCPS refused to cancel those days. So now our HVAC is being renovated and won't be ready til March...yet my school is still doing in person at our school location. Oh and this information isn't available to our parents and they'll never know because now they can't enter the building. |

This is the information from the Cap. Hill cluster.
