Joshua or Peter?

Well, I really dislike the name Peter, so I vote Joshua.

I agree with the "different vibe" person above, though. So I guess it would depend on your preferred vibe

OP here.

I have no vibe. We are a pretty generic, white family. I’d like for the name to be “strong” and last from childhood to adulthood, and not make a statement.

Neither Peter or Joshua are strong names

Disagree. As a Christian, Peter means rock, literally the “rock” on which the church is built.

It’s stronger than “Simon”. Even Jesus knew that.

OP here and I strongly dislike Leo for a non-Italian child.

Oh god seriously?!? I’m 37 and never heard this, but I’m also pretty naive.

Can you guys corroborate this?

the song: there's a sketer on my peter get it off, get it off.....

It's "whack" not "get"

I have only seen this rhyme on this site.

— another 36 year who’s never heard this in my life — I grew up in NY, CA and IL.

49 y.o.here who only saw this rhyme on this site. Is this a southern thing?

Excuse me? My father Leo and his father Leo are solid Irish. I have alwys known it as a fairly common Irish name. Been to Ireland much?

OP just said that she dislikes it.

Curious: were they Leonard, Leonardo, or something else?

I don’t know the rhyme but definitely think of Peter as synonym for penis. Like Johnson. I am a little over 40 and grew up in NOVA, so maybe just older southerners used that, I don’t know.

No, I haven’t, but I also wonder if they are Leon or Leonard. It is definitely NOT an Irish name, and it’s a nickname anyway.

Joshua.

I prefer Peter to Joshua, but regardless, I applaud you for not inflicting another Grayson, Kason, Mason, Jaxon, Braxton, or Paxton on the world.

Grew up in California, Peter definitely has a penis association.
