14,000 boxes were removed during Obama administration. It is a common practice and makes sense if they are not being used. It takes time to go check the boxes. But, in any case they are ceasing removal for now.
Ever sense an area mailbox was vandalized at a local post office, DH always walks in to mail important pieces. Others, we drop in the drive through mailbox. We NEVER put outgoing mail in our mailbox because of local mail theft--except for mail that is misdelivered.

Sure, but the context and timing now is unacceptable. We didn’t have a pandemic when Obama was in office. People are now more dependent on the mail and not everyone can afford Amazon or UPS or Fed Ex to send and purchase things. My mom is dependent on her prescription service which is through USPS.

Never mind that Trump has explicitly said he is undercutting USPS to serve his election chances.

While they are ceasing the removal of the blue boxes, there is no mention of the sorting machines that were removed and destroyed. Those need to be replaced IMMEDIATELY.

We aactually did have a pandemic when Obama was in office. Two actually. They were just managed effectively so as to avoid a major disruption in our daily lives.

The effects of “please vote” messages fade quickly, so the best strategy — and the one we have proven to be effective in the past — is to put letters in mailboxes as close as possible to the election without missing it. That said, we recognize adjustments may be needed this year.

To help fine-tune our approach, we’re tracking federal and state lawsuits that may affect absentee deadlines and policies, USPS performance, the availability of Election Day ballot drop boxes, expected turnout by voting method, early voting availability, voter preferences and lessons learned during the primaries, evolving electoral processes, and more for all of our target states. We’re also running an experiment to assess mail times and how they affect GOTV messaging.

Based on the data we’ve gathered so far, there is a good chance we will mail earlier than originally planned. We are collecting more information before deciding by how many days and in which states. (It only took me ten minutes because I used their names in the email, so I had to change all those. I guess it only needs to be a three minute activity if you don’t do that.)

Let them know what this is, that we see it, and that we don’t support the GOP sabotaging (another) election.

I hear you, and I feel the same way. But at the end of this, I want to be able to say that I did something. As I don’t live in DC where they are actively protesting DeJoy’s house on Connecticut, as I can’t spend that much money on USPS merch (though I am a philatelist, so I am definitely a long term supporter), I am doing something in bringing polite pressure.

Oh and one of the commenters down thread at one of those linked tweets said: these kinds of people HATE that kind of visibility. They can be cowed into doing things.

I got another email from them. They say letters are more effective than phone calls and texts.
