postal service warns it will not deliver mail-in ballots on time

That’s because — and this is vital to understand — in 34 states, including the swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, ballots can’t just be postmarked by Election Day to count. It has to be received by Election Day. If you mail it three days before, thinking you did everything right, but it doesn’t arrive at the board of elections until the day after the election, it’s tossed in the trash.

And if that's the law, how is that Trump's fault? Why not just put your ballot in the mail a week or so before election day? Why should a board of election accept a late ballot?

It's Trump's fault that he's slowing down the mail. A vital service will all depend on. Many depend on it for life-sustaining medicine and checks.

Because Trump is deliberately sabotaging the postal service's ability to deliver such ballots. It's also not going to reach most voters who don't follow the news as closely as you or me. Shouldn't we be making it easier for all people to vote? You know, so that we have a representative democracy?

Because if the postal service has been deliberately sabotaged to overwhelm its staff and slow down mail service, then you could either receive your ballot too late to vote in time, or it could arrive too late to be counted even if you put it in the mail weeks before. The law should be the same as it is for tax returns - that your ballot is on time if it's postmarked by election day.

Yes, Trump-defender PP...as a patriot wouldn't you want to make the voting process smoother? The right to vote is our most precious right as citizens. Why aren't you concerned about safeguarding our right to vote? How are you okay with the blatant attempt to slow down the mail in advance of an election taking place during a pandemic by removing post boxes, removing mail sorting machines, denying over time so that postal workers can keep up with demand, and essentially defunding the USPS. You know that Ben Franklin was the first postmaster, right? Does that not stir any sense of patriotism in you?

Not only are mail-sorting machines being removed, but collection boxes - NEIGHBORHOOD MAILBOXES - are being removed. EVEN IN MONTANA.

Sorry, but I still don't see evidence of a deliberate slowdown of mail delivery by Trump. If this were the case, why isn't Nancy calling for impeachment proceedings right now?

To the contrary, there does seem to be evidence that the USPS can't handle a massive increase in mail in ballots. I know there is a pandemic, but do you really want millions upon millions of people to cast ballots by mail, only for them to arrive late and not be counted according to state law?

If I didn't know any better, it's starting to sound like the Democrats actually want millions of ballots to arrive late, sue in hundreds of courts around the country to make sure they count, and drag out the election for months, with conflicting decisions ultimately finding their way up to the Supreme Court. It's almost like Democrats want us to go back to the 2000 election drama.

Trump installed a donor to Postmaster General. Who is now doing things that COST MORE MONEY. Like removing machines that have already been paid for and installed.

No conspiracy theory here. Mailboxes are removed routinely as routes change, or when drivers aren't available. You do know we're in the middle of a pandemic, right? Next you're going to say that the USPS has reduced the number of trucks, drivers, mail processors, etc.... all tied into Trump somehow engineering the USPS to rig the election.

Holy paranoia Batman!

Um, installing donors as appointees has gone on for centuries. Even Biden plans to do it:

Yeah, well, the Republican Senator from Montana (who, by the way, is up for reelection) doesn't think this is "routine" or normal.

I see nothing in his inquiry having anything to do with the election. It also may be that he has received correspondence from his constituents that he felt it appropriate to make an inquiry. He could just be trying to look good to his constituents and local voters. Again, I don't see the broader conspiracy you're peddling.

Well, 10,000 more ballots were cast in the 2020 primary for Democrats than Republicans in Missoula County.
