College and University Discussion
Compared to what? Compared to the average American? No. Clearly left of center. Is it more rightward leaning than Amherst or Wesleyan? Yes, but then again, that’s not a high bar. It’s clearly a left-leaning campus, but would not make the top ten list of SJW SLACs. |
Another fact: While not a cheap school, if your benchmark is the Northeast liberal arts schools, Davidson averages about $5,000 cheaper (room, board and tuition] than its peers north of the Mason-Dixon Line. |
What percentage support Trump? |
Not sure. Don’t think Nate Silver ran any polls on Davidson’s campus. |
+1 https://prod.wp.cdn.aws.wfu.edu/sites/202/2020/04/2019_2020_p22.pdf You can see geographic diversity here. Most of the kids at Wake aren’t even from the south. |
I bet that there is voting data from the precinct though (if they were in person) |
The environs are upper middle class suburbs, lakefront vacation homes, and mostly registered democrats. |
| I never understood the appeal of Davidson and Washington & Lee. Somewhat selective but no brand recognition outside of their immediate region. |
You could say the same about most of the NESCACs |
NESACs have a much better national reputation. Davidson and W&L at best will give a shrug and worst be associated with some sort of Deep South racist backwater. I mean their names are not doing them any favors. |
Well then you and your kid won't choose to go there. More room for others. |
What’s so divisive about the name “Davidson”? Is naming a school after a Revolutionary War hero now a problem? The rest of your observation are equally inane. I don’t think NECSACs have quite the allure you think (and I say this as someone who was admitted and almost went to Williams). |
I imagine most would assume it’s another confederate general like it’s peer W&L. |
