| I try to shop local first. |
| I have zero clue who owns most of my neighborhood businesses. And restaurants, I just go with the food I like. Sometimes that means it appears as if they are Asian owned, sometimes Latino, but I'm hionestly not sure who owns most of them. |
| How the hell would I know if the owner is black or other. If I need/like what you're selling than I'm buying. |
| I'm not going to order food based on race. If I am on the mood for pasta and it is a white owner then I'm getting the pasta. If I have an option of 2 places, one minority owned and the other not im going with who makes the best sauce. |
| Well I've really only been to the grocery store - so no this has not crossed my mind. Where are all these people shopping and for what? |
| Op is a troll, no way that either of those conversations happened. Just another white woman with a victim complex. |
Baker sits, ice cream stores, breweries, takeout restaurants. Curbside pickup for retail, books, toys, baby supplies. Plenty of sites have delivery options too. I try very hard not to shop at Amazon first. And I support as many businesses in my east county neighborhood no matter who owns them. Non minority owned small businesses still employ black and Latino and Asian people in the community. |
Yes!! A fashion blog I read is pushing, pushing, pushing the lists and books and frankly it’s over the top aggressive and comes off as disingenuous. |
+1. DH refers to it as "Bethesda Guilt." |
Sorry, but no. The looters and vandals had zero to do with protests and only served to discredit the protests, not serve the movement. They were opportunists out for free stuff and a good time. The people I know participating in protests would say the same. And you have no idea what race I am. |
| How the hell does Yelp know the race of the people who own these businesses? I'm thinking through the local businesses I go to and I don't know if I've ever met the owners, much less know what race they are. I mostly interact with wait staff or the cashiers. |
Sadly, the disease of racism isn’t limited to white people. There are plenty of anti-black Latinx and Asians. And there are quite a few self-loathing black people. |
| To answer OP, no. |
I’m able to do both because I chose that type of community to raise my kids in. |
Arlington property owners thank you. |
