Holderness Family

Acquaintance you see regularly? Does she bring up her unfunny videos? I would find that so awkward.

I agree I liked their stuff at first but now I find it trying to hard. They are probably trying to make money from their videos so there’s probably pressure.

I don’t like how they use their kids in their videos. Just by having them in them for such broad public consumption, it just seems exploitative and wrong.

Also, their house is typical Raleigh/Durham Style Love it or List it House porn for us DC area folks who are living in 1/2 the size house for twice the price.

He’s in his 40’s, I find it surprising he was in acapella groups in college. That really wasn’t a thing in the 90’s.

I graduated UVA a couple years before Penn Holderness and there were several extremely popular a capella groups. Hullabahoos, Virginia Gentlemen, and Virginia Belles were the big ones.

I love the Holderness family - my kid does too.

For Uva acapella groups, don’t forget the Silhooettes! 😎

Fun fact: Andrew Freiden, weatherman from Richmond’s NBC12, was a Hullabahoo at UVa. (He also went to my high school)

I think watching their videos is like watching Meet the Fockers. I feel like, visceral painful embarrassment for them. But it is my own issue, I just avoid them.

I think they are occasionally very funny. I wish they hadn't upped the content quite so much (it is omnipresent!). But in general I like them and might also have a tiny crush on Penn.

My husband hated them until he realized Penn went to UVA, now he has grudging respect for them.

Anyone who can stay relatively healthy and sane playing the social media game - I say good for you. Run with it.

(a couple of years ago they did a backyard project with Lowes or someplace like that where they got a free (? maybe they even got paid beyond the stuff?) sweet backyard set up with bar and projector screen and a fire pit and I don't even remember what all. I kind of hated them for a while after that (no yard DC row house!) but eventually feel back into "well, good for them."

98-2002 here. It unfortunately was when I went to school. Ugh. That shit is so lame.

So lame for people to use their amazing musical talents! College should be all about football, underage drinking, and Greek life, just like God intended!

Dude, none of that is my scene. There is nothing cool about pretending to be a trombone. I'm sure you think plenty of things I like are lame. I'm not saying people should not let their freak flag fly and I'm glad it gives people so much of a community and happiness. That said, the ridiculous faces they all make, the cheesy "hip hop medleys", their dancing, all of it....its just cheese to the extreme for me and makes me cringe.

They are losers!!

I don’t seek out their content. From what I’ve seen, I’ve placed them somewhere between a chuckle and a cringe. I think they’d be utterly exhausting to hang out with.

They are probably more fun than the assholes from NOVA!

If he can sing Disney tunes while she is changing wigs on his head, they can't be full of themselves know it all pieces of sh*t like I know.

The elementary school moms would never do videos like this, uptight bitches.

So, that cute Thanksgiving video from like 28 years ago wasn't a one-off?

I know the family. Not what you would think. He’s the odd duck.
