Why would lottery winnings be taxed any lower than other income? |
Because I feel personally these lottery programs which are supposed to allegedly be income generators for schools should allow for tax free winnings. It is a double tax. The government basically provides no service yet they want their outrageous cut. It’s criminal IMHO. |
I swear she made it seem like the government would come after our house and car if she won on Jeopardy. It made me think they named the show Jeopardy for that reason, and I wondered why all these people put themselves in jeopardy just to show off how smart they were. |
I feel as though people don't understand marginal tax rates. Yes, you could be pushed into a higher tax bracket, but you would still have a higher net income for the year. |
1) Taxes are the way lotteries are income generators for schools. 2) Better to tax windfalls like lotteries than labor. Same as better to tax dead people than living workers. 3) You have an absurd definition of what is “criminal.” Taxes by definition are not criminal. |

They are funny. It’s good clean humor |
Yes seriously ffs if you make an extra 100k and have to pay 40k in taxes you still have 60k more than you would have! |
The video today of the eclipse is so funny. |
Huh? Maybe it wasn't mainstream with Hollywood movies about it, but it was definitely a thing in the 90s. |
They get so old so fast the midwest neighbor is much more entertaining |
Yeah, try outs were fierce for the acapella groups at my SLAC in 1993. |
’ ‘91 grad here. They were a significant part of my undergrad experience. My school had multiple groups and I went to many shows that they put on. |
He and I overlapped at UVA. Acapella was absolutely a huge thing in the 90s with competitive tryouts, groupies, etc. Pitch Perfect was late to the party. |
Loved this today! |
