Since you choose to believe God doesn’t exist, you also believe the OP’s premise is false. Your belief or disbelief isn’t the gold standard. It’s your choice of belief.

OP’s belief is is valid as is your disbelief. However, OP isn’t telling you you have to believe in God, so OP is being tolerant and accepting of others beliefs while you insist your opinion is correct.

You have totally nailed it! God bless you!!

God forbid anyone should want "evidence" for their beliefs.

Hey I bet leeches will work GREAT as a treatment for the Corona virus!

The effects of the virus have wiped out all the stock market gains since Trump was elected (the stock market being one of reasons republicans used to justify Trump as president). It is primarily affecting old people (most likely to vote Trump). The virus is forcing us all to stay home and reunite with our families, reexamine our priorities, and find ways to re-connect that truly meaningful (that is turning our backs on division). And the young people have to step and self-isolate in order to sav the old and sick (that is, teaching us selflessness). Is God teaching us a lesson?

Wow you live in a bubble. It’s affecting people with underlying conditions too. And plenty of people have lost their jobs, many of them being the most vulnerable members of society. Unless you believe in predetermination and that people with health conditions and people who are poor “deserved it.”

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" Hebrews 11: 1

Faith is the connecting power into the spiritual realm, which links us with God and makes Him become a tangible reality to the sense perceptions of a person. Faith is the basic ingredient to begin a relationship with God.

Faith is the assurance that the things revealed and promised in the Word are true, even though unseen, and gives the believer a conviction that what he expects in faith, will come to pass. Faith is the tangible essence of what is hoped for - so tangible that the faith itself, is the evidence/reality of those things that are not yet visible. In other words, it becomes so tangible that you now possess it. It becomes a reality in the spiritual realm.

You are confused, friend. That’s all.

If anyone is familiar with the “computer simulation” theory of the universe, this does feel like that. Like we’re someone’s Sim world that they’re just randomly effing with for fun at this point.

I don't think this idea is compatible with religious belief, where God has a plan -- we just don't know what it is.

No, I am not confused at all.

Faith is the excuse people give for something they believe in without evidence.

I admire your even responses but I think you are wasting your time with some of these posters. The fact you are lambasted for your beliefs and vilified for having them, you are also accused of not allowing your antagonist to have their, albeit rightful, atheist beliefs.

I applaud you but I think you've wasted enough of your precious time.

“Vilified”? Wow your persecution complex is showing. Disagreeing with someone is NOT vilifying them.

I respectfully disagree. I think the simulation theory is entirely compatible with the idea of a creator who has a plan for us, maybe just not the creator or plan we have envisioned.

Faith isn’t an excuse: it’s a reason.

You don’t need excuses for your beliefs. You are allowed to have your own opinions and beliefs.

If I thought an orange bovine controlled the universe, it’s my choice and faith. You have zero say in it. Moo.

I don’t know if it’s a god, but Mother Nature is certainly rebalancing things at the moment re the earth.

Sorry, but this statement also means nothing and has no basis or evidence.
