Bronwyn - girl’s name

Anonymous
It was my favorite name growing up. I had boys though.

On wikipedia, most of the famous Bronwyns are Australian, born in the 60s. It makes sense why I don't find the name so unusual because I grew up there around that times.

No one cares what you think “as a man”. Pray god she’s a lesbian and doesn’t have to mess with knuckle-draggers like you in her personal life.

Parent will care when she's 40 and has had maybe two solid boyfriends here whole life.

The first I heard of this name was when I was coaching high school softball and I’m sorry, I just think it’s so ugly sounding and also ugly looking.

I would rather my daughter stay single than date a guy like you

If you want to rationalize giving your daughter a name that 95% of men will find really really off putting, be my guest

It's a clunky, heavy-sounding name. Sorry, I feel bad for saying that when you like it-- there are so many beautiful, elegant girl's names.

I'm not OP. I gave my DD a beautiful, feminine, French name
Now I wish I had given her a name that men like you wouldn't find attractive so she could weed out all the jagoffs.

It sounds ugly. Objectively it’s an unattractive name. Nothing to do with being pretentious.

I do think that there’s been a trend towards flowing and soft sounds. Lots of L and M sounds - Isabella, Emma, Olivia have been popular for a long time.

We’re due for a backlash towards harsher, hard sounds. Remember, there was a time when people thought Gertrude was a beautiful name. The OP is just (slightly) ahead of her time.

So, the next trend in names will be Gertrude, Bronwyn and Prudence?

Yikes. I feel bad for those kids...

They can get married to Herbert, Bartholomew, and Mortimer

Isn't this already happening to the girls given names traditionally reserved for boys?

It's a bit of a mouthful. I know a cute 3-yo named Bronwyn, though. If you like it, go for it.

Hard no. It’s difficult to get out. It’s bulky, clunky and sounds ugly.

I don't like it at all
