Some things never change! I was a skater as a kid, and thought the same. Now I have a daughter that is a serious athlete at a certain sport, and I keep refusing to buy her a skateboard because I don't want her to get hurt and be unable to do her sport. But she wears Vans and Santa Cruz and thrasher because it fits her aesthetic.
