Nancy Pelosi is the best dressed politician ever

You can look great on a budget but it takes a lot of time to go to resale shops, consignment stores, and estate sales. I just scored a couple of suits from saks jandel at the local resale shop. Off they go to the cleaners and tailor . . . It takes time though. Plus my mom and friends are into fashion, so we look out for each other. And yes, i have a staff of 130 people to manage, travel, and i am a single mom. I have to look the part at work, so i spend an hour once a week going to the stores.

Thanks for this tip. I have forgotten about it. When I was much younger and BC (before children), I used to go to the mall couple of times a month. I'd browse the stores see latest fashion or to look at the "street fashion" for inspiration. I don't know when Nancy finds time to shop, but she always looks great. Also helps to have pretty face.

I'm guessing that there are salespeople who look out for her. The article says she does not have a personal stylist, but I know that when I was desperate for a dress for a special occasion and went to Neiman's, the salesperson was awesome. She suggested something I would never have chosen and it was just right. Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to do that all the time.

I'm sure that Nancy calls them and they have things ready. They may even come to her. It helps to have the funds, too--money is not an issue for her. She also knows her style.

Is...is this a joke? Almost every one of these pictures she looks a mismatched, crumpled mess running out the morning after from a one night stand.

MaxMara, wasn’t it? I loved that thing.

Yes. Gorgeous. Supposedly they were going to bring it back...

Also it looks really red in this photo but is described as being "burnt orange" and I think the Max Mara name for it is Fire.

Notice that her hair is dyed and she is in heels, and -- look -- she has on makeup and somehow none of that makes people think she is stupid or vapid or unable to lead. Imagine that!

False comparison.

Pelosi is an experienced politician and well educated.

You can't compare Melania or Ivanka to Pelosi. The Trump women are in place due to luck, Daddy and crime. They will be forgotten in time.

The Ivanka/Melania comment was kind of out of nowhere, but I think this poster is riffing on the DCUM fashion commenters who insist if you color your grays, dabble in fillers, and care about wearing more than crocs and Bass capris you're a sub 100 IQ idiot that commands no respect and is looked at as a blow up doll for the patriarchy.

The most amazing thing about her is her heels. I would knee over with those heels even when I was in my 30s.

I think you’re responding to me - you also have to be straight sized. I’m plus size and believe me, the options that you’re mentioning really aren’t there for us.

Exactly. Sonia Sotomayor and RBG made it to the Supreme Court. The women here who insist smart ambitious women can’t/won’t be taken seriously if they groom are fooling themselves and insulting. As has been mentioned several times here despite the original post not talking about them (which says a lot about the posters here) the Trumps don’t have the substance and no amount of spackle is hiding that.

I’m a pretty crunchy feminist and I’ve never seen anyone on DCUM suggesting that you can’t wear nice clothes and do your hair/makeup and be taken seriously at work.

I have seen people suggesting that if you pump your face full of fillers, get porn star size boobs, show a lot of cleavage or wear tiny miniskirts, or wear makeup like a real housewife that you won’t be taken seriously. I’ve also seen post opining that the women who think women who don’t get regular manicures are “nasty” are not friends to feminism.

But I don’t think anyone has ever posted that a professional woman should show up to work looking like the mom on Dharma and Greg.
