Where to find a house without mice?

Too much radon in the basement, asbestos insulation, too much mold, active termites, un-fixable flooding issues because the house is at the bottom of a hill or in a flood zone, those are deal-breakers.

If everything else is great, just get mice traps, the humane ones.

It's only a deal breaker if you're incredibly naive or bonkers.

We had mice in our house. We hate mice. We had the holes sealed. We also use rat poison outside. No mice in a long time. Once every ten years or so we get one mouse inside the house then we set traps and. inspect for holes again and are without them for a decade.

You are being unreasonable if you think that you can find a house in this region that does not now and never has had mice.

That’s just lazy and slovenly and BS.

We had our house mice-proofed with copper mesh (a retrofit), we utilize cameras, and exercise extreme no holes, no open food container policy.

Of course we also don’t have a dirt crawl space, use liner bags inside the drum liners for trash pick up and generally live as an American Psycho in a colonial

Highly recommended

Oh honey, there are mice everywhere.

OP, get a cat or two. No need to let them outdoors - just the scent alone will keep away most mice (except the stupid ones).

Not op but also dealing with mice.
Are there specific types of cat that will go after mice, or just any will do?

Have you ever spent any time around cats?

No and I ask because I read somewhere that not all cats hunt mice. Is that true?
Pls recommend a species without being snarky.

Before getting a cat, I suggest you spend time with a cat. A lot of time. A cat can help control rodent populations 2 ways; both in hunting, but also just their presence. Most mice seem to recognize the scent of a cat as a predator, and stay away on scent alone. Some mice are stupid, however.

A young cat will be more likely to hunt.

But please do not get a cat just because of this, without any real experience with cats. Otherwise it will be a completely miserable experience for you both.

I have always had cats and never had a mouse problem. That includes when people in my building without cats had a mice problem. No hunting needed: mice just never dared to come around. Cats are easy, chill and wonderful for the most part. Just do not get one if you are prissy about furniture as some will claw fabric/table legs (out of 5 cats I have had just one do that a lot). Also if you can't handle cleaning a litter box, don't do it.

We have lived in four houses and only this last one has had mice. Two were new builds, one was 1950s and this one is 1920s.

I hate it. It is taking forever to get rid of them even with the companies plugging and baiting and us having no exposes food.

I think your questions is reasonable.

Our house was built in the 1920s, and we've lived here for decades. When we first moved in, there was a mouse or two. Then nothing. Then, about 10 years ago, one in the attic. Starting a few months ago, we have had several mice. I've been using snap traps and throwing out the tiny corpses, but I kind of want to do some sort of medieval display as a warning to other mice -- a mouse gibbet or whatever.

I'm sure they do. They are everywhere. You just may not see them.
