| We are looking in Bethesda/CC and had three houses inspected. The houses were all built within the past 30 years, but have mice in the basements. Is this a problem for those specific houses (they were not built or maintained well) or a common problem in the area? Do we have to look in newer neighborhoods, such as those in Potomac or even north bethesda, to find a house without mice? Can anyone recommend a close in neighborhood where houses built within the past 30 years usually don't have mice? |
| Just get a good exclusion done. Are those neighborhoods with a lot of new builds? Construction tends to rile up mice. |
| Buy a house. Get a cat. Voila - mouse-free house. |
You'll never find a house, anywhere, that's been around for a couple decades that hasn't had a few mice. No houses are built well enough to keep them out over the long term. Did you actually have a contract on houses that you walked away from because of mice? |
| Get a house. Get a cat. Or pay an exhorbitant amount to find all the holes and plug with with steel wool. Mice are a thing in the suburbs. Be thankful it's not rats. |

| You are weird OP. |
| Cabin John has no mice for some reason. Try there. As well as Poolesville. |
| New builds are tighter and have less issues with rodents. Also trees cause rodents |
| Areas with large lots. We have no have one mouse since moving to our 1970s house on 1/2 an acre. |
| Basically impossible OP. |
| We have owned seven homes and have never had mice. Weird question, OP. |
Never? What do you attribute it to? It’s a pretty common problem. |
The mice just autogenerate right out of the roots. Similar to how fruit flies are caused by fruit. |
