I guess she is the boss. In my house, I say time for bath and they get in tub. Of course, I have never let children ever think they are the ultimate authority on anything. In this heat, it is inexcusable not to bathe yourself and your children everyday, even with air conditioning. |
I think most the people on the board have said that in the summer they are bathing their kids daily due to the heat, sunscreen and bug spray. We don't insist on a bath or shower everyday during the months when DS is not wearing sunscreen and bug spray. He showers after every sports practice and game and after Cub Scouts but not on days when he is not engaged in a sport or activity. That will change when he hits puberty and he has BO. |
Definitely not. We are in New England though, so not quite as hot. |
+1. Preschool teacher here. Yes, we all know who bathes daily and who doesn’t. |
I’m 39 and have never bathed daily. Somehow still a functioning member of society. Not everyone stinks after 1 day without bathing. |
yes |
-1. Also a preschool teacher and while yes some kids smell, that doesn’t mean the good smelling kids bathe daily. You really have no clue. |
Yes - just part of the routine. Especially in the summer for tick checks. |

Smell is not the only indicator of bathing habits.... although it can be a good one! How fingernails and ears look can also suggest that a kid needs a good bath! |
3 years old, we do every other day |
Just checked my 8 yo’s nails and ears. Absolutely no way to tell that she didn’t bathe yesterday. Not all kids get sweaty and dirty. Have some imagination. People’s pH, skin conditions, sweat glands, etc all vary widely. |
none of my kids have skipped bath/shower even a single day of their lives |
Are you running around getting sweaty each day, as 99% of little kids do in this heat? I'm guessing no. If you are, and aren't bathing afterwards, you probably do stink and just don't know it... |

Glad your child is clean. I don't understand the comment "have some imagination" .... I don't have to imagine. I work with children. I can tell who needs a bath as well as who doesn't get read to daily and all kinds of things about their home life. |
I’m sure you can tell who needs a bath. So can I. I’m just saying that the kids who don’t need a bath didn’t necessarily bathe the day before. Unless you have a camera in their home, you have no idea. |
